Cpu upgrade fps low?

i was getting 18.4k 3dmark 2006 score with my core 2 duo9800gtx sli set up: i bought new unlocked quad core qx9650 now iam getting 18.9k i see fps drops but cpu score goes up.
i tought i have to get more fps?

Sounds about right. That is because the multi threading support for 3Dmarks 06 is a joke so your Qx9650 is performing like a glorified dual core. Who cares about 3Dmarks 06, the Qx9650 is a lot faster and as long as your games run well that is all that matters. If you persist with this uphill battle with 3Dmarks, overclock it!

what dent1 said is correct.

most games and benchmarks - especially old ones - are only single threaded for graphics tests. if you want better scores there, overclock the CPU more.

Bench it with Lost planet, GTA4, etc.. theres a thread here somewhere about what games that takes advantage of multicores.. using 3dmark06 for benching a quad vs a duo is flipped out lol
