I always flash with no drivers installed.
Make sure you install Ati CAPS (crossfire profiles.)
Makes a HUGE difference in performance and compatability for a lot of games.
Alright, I just got my 2nd 6950 (HIS)... And I can't unlock it (shaders only) the way I did with the xfx 6950... :O(
I tried winflash and it says "cannot erase ROM"... I've actually got my HIS card (alone) in the top slot where the XFX was (closest to the CPU) on the BIOS switch position #1
use winflash and just do a straight flash instead of going through RBE
I don't have RBE... and I don't understand what you mean with "straight flash"...
Everybody here is correct. My only suggestion for you is to do some research on Crossfire, check out some benchmark sites and TPU reviews to answer most of your questions. Get MSI Afterburner to monitor your temps, speeds, and scaling.
how did you manage to unlock and flash the bios on your other card the last time then?
lolzz I was lucky I guess... I did the exact same method... Except for one thing which I'm about try tho...
My Xfx was first flashed to a Radeon 6970 bios with Wizzards little executable files... Then I flashed it back to it's original bios and got a little modpack from someone where I can put my original bios in a folder and open another executable program he made that Mods the orignal bios into another .bin file I can later flash with Winflash...
I'll try this and be back to yall
Alright, it worked... I used the "flash from 6950 to 6970 bios" pack from Wizzard which executed itself and flashed it to 6970... Then I rebooted (as asked) and found my modded 6950 bios (with unlocked shaders only) and flashed it and it worked
glad you got it working, btw awesome case xD
Thanks a lot! Means a lot to me... because this is my first PC ever. It took me a while to get the required money together and I had a lot of catching up to do (technology wise) because I used to be a PC crack before... but the last 4 years, I've lost track of PC technology knowledge...
This Forum helped me A LOT. thx to all of you!
One last thing: I need you guys to point me towards the stuff I need to make full use of my Crossfire... You guys mentionned stuff about ATI Profiles for Crossfire... You said there were profiles built for specific games...
Where do I find those?
