Crunch Time! Help me choose RAM...

The last descision needs to be made.

I'm torn between some very fast OCZ Flex XLC 9600 2x1 Kit and the hot-ticket Transcend aXeram 1200+.

I've read some reviews on the OCZ and they seemed to be great, unfortunately there were no X38 boards to test them on. The scaled close to DDR 1300. Wondering if they would go further with the right board and chip. The GA-X38-DQ6 which has a MAX FSB of ~560 and E8500 with a 9.5 multi.

Would love to hear some input form someone who has/has owned some of the OCZ Flex modules OR has some other informed comments to help in my descision.

im not to sure about those kits of ram, but i am running 2 kits of OCZ REAPER 2X2 800mhz and loving it. there are several kits in the Reaper line and i would reconmend any of them, some of the kits are OCing to around the 1200 mhz rang quite easiley

any reason why your staying with 1gb stix? 2gb stix are not too far behind 1gb in terms of attainble speeds. mine do 1066 (5-4-4-12) on 2.0v and if my mobo would i would push them further i would but mine doesnt realy like to go above ddr1000.

It is mainly about speed at this point. By the time I move to a DDR3 board things should have improved speed/latency/price wise.

I think you would be happy with either to be truthful Dr. S. Me, I favor the aXeram only due to actually seeing some stuff from forum members.

Agreed. Though I've only seen WileE's top OC of 1400. All other reports I read topped out around 1300 as well.

Just looking for the kit that will be the better for bandwidth. Latencies are secondary concern.

The only testing I saw personally done with the flex was on a Blood Iron from DFI....seemed to be a perfect match there.

Wht would you even question not getting the axeram? lol You've seen there track record here at tpu. Plus your gaurunteed d9 gmh. Plus I've said this many times in threads here. A picture doesn't do it justice. They are sweet looking and freaking huge....

I like the fact i don't have to oc my ram to get it were i want it. I wanted 1200 out of my crucial and i don't have to oc them. i run them at 1245 @ 2.1v

I know that this is a mute point now, but I dragged a Buffalo rep to TPU, and he is verifying that all Firestix currently in production are D9's, so AxeRam doesn't have to be the only option. Not to mention I got 4x1GB's for $107.

Very true...but two points come to mind here.
A: are they GMH D9's on the firestix?
B: the OP is asking about 1150MHz ram not 800MHz.

But a sweet deal all the same!

A) Yes, they are confirmed GMH D9's. B) Quite often the stock clock means little, other than you are assured a high binned D9. I've seen several posts with firestix 800mhz clocking into the 1100's on 2.2v, which is still with warranty from Buffalo. I get my firestix today, and I'll start a thread with my results.
