Argh!! Well, after about 10 re-formats and os-reinstallations later, i finally got my system up and running with my new SATA2 HDD in AHCI mode and device-manager and what not is all lookin' good. I've begun installing programs now, and i've got all the windows-updates and all that done. The Problem It's been okay for the last couple of days! But now! Now i'm getting a problem i was getting on a previous wipe. The mouse/system just stops for about ONE second when opening up Firefox, or opening my Hard-Drive in My Computer, or starting up a game, or doing anything that requires some form of initiation! Sometimes it can occur when just moving the mouse? I don't know, i don't know what the problem is. I have a feeling my C2D is fucking up or something, it beats me, i'm sick of this damn rig! I wanna throw it out the window! (Not really). I've noticed that my CPU spikes up to 50% or so when this occurs, and i think my HDD light is flashing at the same time - well it probably is under the circumstances of which the problem occurs. Hopefully that will help some of you to help me figure out the route of the problem. The Low-Down PC is a fresh format with no left-overs of previous drivers and such installed. However, i did have some problems getting dev-man to recognize my onboard sound after multiple uninstall/reinstalls of the Realtek audio drivers and HD Audio patches (Turned out to be a matter of pointing dev-man in the right direction). I've got no abnormal or unnecessary processes running in the background. The only time i've had the time to exhibit this problem would have been when i was using my old HDD (in IDE mode) pre-wipe, when the issue never occured. It surely can't be an ide/ahci issue? I can't always re-create the problem, it just tends to happen. I've also noticed movies will sometimes freeze up for a second or two when the problem occurs. If anyone would please help me fix it i would greatly appreciate it as i just want a working-freakin rig as i have been without one for the last month or so and its making me so stressed. I want to come home from work and/or college and be able to relax, not come home to yet another problem - different day. Cheers, Hux. EDIT: Just like to say, i've optimized windows, free'd up as much memory as i can/know, run disk checks, disk-defragments and reg-cleaners.
