Yeah I saw the trailer early this morning on GameTrailers. I think its a great move but I have to ask...If they can successfully port it with all the destruction/physics and AI then what the hell happened to all of these things in Crysis 2??

So people on the console are going to learn how shitty Crysis 2 is now that they can play the first crysis?

Depends how optimised and what improvements there are but id be interested to see what it was like. Wonder if it will include Warhead?

Um, how can you remaster and enhance a game for a platform that wouldn't be capable of playing the original..?

"This new version will apparently feature "improved lighting" alongside a number of tweaks, though many of these new features are probably designed to make Crysis run faster, not prettier."

From the same source as OP.

Here's more info about this. It's not clear if the PC Steam version will get this update.

This is cool console players being able to experience the actual Crysis on their system! I still play Crysis 1 and Warhead to this day I've bought both copies from overseas even just to play ahead of everyone else in my country. Crysis 2 however I stopped playing after a week and now I believe the company is a sellout.

they were there, just in different form.

instead of a hut that breaks apart you have a pillar, billboard, or little ticket booth or some shit like that, that shatters to bits.

or maybe they're porting Crysis into the Crysis 2 engine (CryEngine 3?) which was made for consoles.

also its not a console port. its a PC port. Ported from the PC to the Console, not from the Console to the PC

"PC port", the concept is so alien to us PC gamers that we didn't even know to call it that, instead going back to "console port".

Oh crytek.. if only you stayed loyal to the PC.

We'd be raving over the super sick graphics Crysis 2 has and how great of a game it is, tossing benchmark scores and configs around.

Instead... you sold your soul to the devil.

    RIP Crytek.

you guys should read this for more hate of crytek:

    http://techreport.com/articles.x/21404/1

its showing how DX11 in crysis 2 is completely wasted on objects you usually cant even see, like water under the ground - and a teeny little comment near the end of the article makes note of how this wasteful use of tessellation hurts ATI more than nvidia *rolleyes*

Yeah, I read some of that Tech Report article a while back and it made my head hurt. But perhaps it does hurt AMD more than nvidia? I have no idea personally.

short verrsion: they use tesselation on items that should be simple flat textures to a ridiculous extent, and even on water underneath every map.

Strangely, their nvidia sponsors take less of a performance hit from this wastage.

anyway, i just brought it up as yet another way crytek are screwing over PC gamers in general - what should have been a DX11 flagship title bringing PC gaming back into focus, was just another f*cked up console port with horrible optimisations.
