Isnt that well low for 2 4850s in crossfire?

what am i doing wrong? ps i am running v1.0 crysis with cry bench tool 1.3
i have 8.8 catalyst, with everything as it is im gettin 17k in 3d 06 and 12k in vantage.

update crysis to 1.2 , raise the resolution , change everything to very high . If it still doesn't perform, I'll be happy to recycle it for you .

wolf i take it something is majorly wrong?
my internets well kin slow, so i have another hour of downloading to so. If not its a full fresh driver install although i did that last night.

Im assuming crossfire is working correctly, although for the driver install, i just did it with both cards installed with the bridge set up

You need to raise the resolution, 800x600 will cripple the test for sure. As wolf suggested use the 1.2 patch. The method you used for installing the cards is fine, and has woked since Cat. 8.5's.

^^^ I agree. Definitely raise the res. I got 45fps in Medium quality at 1680x1050 with the setup in my signature. Yours should be around the same fps in HIGH quality.

lol i felt raped! my new rig died very quickly under cry-sis and it had destroyed everthing else ive thrown at it, well not quite destroyed, but it felt that way next to the shitty fps im getting in crysis at the moment. Shouldnt i get over 25 with a high res on my 24" monitor with everything on high? i even have my cards overclocked, it seems to be glitching, sort of fast for a few secs then stuttering

Runs beautifully on V High on my system with the Natural mod.

I got a single 2900xt and with a not to crazy overclock, I think like 850/950 I averaged about 23-24fps in the crysis benchmark with everything on high back when I had xp 64-bit. Resolution was 1280x1024. So just tweak it a bit, and you should definetely do a lot higher than 11fps average.


Have you tried to run 3dmark or something, if so what did you score? Just want to make sure its just the Crysis benchmark and not something related to your system.

you dont have a ton of stuff forced in CCC by any chance do you? (edge detect, etc)

tried again this morning, on 1600*1200 aa off, getting 10fps

catalyst control panel is at default settings with crossfire enabled, thats all.
im trying to uninstall the graphics drivers again, then back in with 8.8, short of that and crysis 1.2 patch is there anything else that would effect the system performance?

You'll have to change one thing thing from the default settings for it to work properly in crossfire, and that is to set Catalyst AI to advanced.

right i have done that, still rubbish fps's, for some reason.

By all accounts i should get at least 30fps on high at 1600*1200 with aa at 2.
And thats being fair, with 2*4850's in xfire.

My 3d mark scores are good 05 22know, 06 17.5k, vantage 12k,

So what on earth is causing crysis to give me v low fps. Even in the game itself it struggles.

My specs are fine a medium system, Whats the correct way of doing a fresh install for the game. I have uninstalled the cat drivers and ccc and crysis. Then rebooted in safe mode, used driver cleaner, then rebooted, used cc cleaner, then restarted,, then installed the 8,.8 drivers. then restarted then defrag, then restart, then crysis, then restart, then patch to 1.2, is there anything more i need to do?

Are you running crysis in windowed mode? Are you running the bench in windowed mode?

There's talk of windowed mode disabling crossfire, confirmed by ATI.

i did but pre 8.5 catalyst requires this, after that, throw them both in and strap em up and its fine.

Your motherboard supports only CrossFire x16 + x4 and that's your problem. Such configuration simply kills Crysis performance .

That too, will be like only having one and a half 4850's (if that), but it should still be higher than 11 fps.

asus website say's 16x16x, for rampage, he's using the p5k e? You nailed it tomcug. I thought he was using the mb in the sig.

R1rhyder, P5K-E has two PCI-E x16 slots, but the second one runs at x4 speed.
