Crysis vs HD 3870X2

    This are some tests I´m doing with Crysis and my X2, some numbers to compare with the new X2 coming next month.

    This was done using Fraps, recordind, FPS and Frametimes.
    50 fps = all fps 59 to 50
    40 fps = all fps 49 to 40
    30 fps = all fps 39 to 30 and so on.

    System used (signature)

    ATI HD3870X2 STOCK - Driver 8.6 final, Vista Business 64, Crysis 64bits executable, 1680x1050 ALL HIGH DX9.

    Island map, from airplane to the end of the level, normal gameplay.

    So, after looking at my "budget" in Crysis.

    I´ve decided to do some tests to see what happens if I changed the budget.

    Same test, I did try to play the same way.

    ATI HD3870X2 STOCK - Driver 8.7 final, Vista Business 64, Crysis 32bits executable, 1680x1050 ALL HIGH DX9 (cat 8.7 and 8.6 get the same performance in Crysis)

    Cvar used.
    sys_budget_numdrawcalls = 6000
    sys_budget_videomem = 512
    sys_budget_sysmem = 6144
    sys_budget_frametime = 80
    r_TexturesStreaming = 0 (this cvar alone gives a 10fps boost in 32bits mode, comparison at the end)

    PS: This second test was done with 32bits Crysis, before changing the budget it was much worst playing at 32bits then 64bits, at 32bits every minuto or so I was forced to "alt-tab" the game to clear memory and restore my normal fps, example, after some play my FPS (looing at the sky) drop from 100 to 45, after alt-tabing, it goes back to 100 again, in 64bits this doesnt happen, so thats why I tested 32bit first. But, in 64bits, after reaching the 1800MB line, fps drop by half, need to save and reload to clean the memory sage.


    A brief test of what texture streaming do for 32bits mode.

    Run #1- DX9 1280x1024 AA=No AA, 64 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 52,88
    Run #2- DX9 1280x1024 AA=4x, 64 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 43,44
    Run #3- DX9 1280x1024 AA=8x, 64 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 43,84

    Run #1- DX9 1280x1024 AA=No AA, 32 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 46,97
    Run #2- DX9 1280x1024 AA=4x, 32 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 37,12
    Run #3- DX9 1280x1024 AA=8x, 32 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 36,33

    Same overclock 64bits withtout cvars. (got the same fps with cvars enabled, only have to do the complete gameplay test to see if get better on overall)
