I would go for the US$ 199.99 4850...
Who would still buy an daimond 3870 if you see this?
Or is the core and mem of this Daimond 4850 below the average 4850?

Core and mem are the same speed as others, and it is weird that a 3870 is still more than a 4850.

Yeah, very weird. The 1GB of RAM is not worth an extra $75-$100.

The Viper I think is a 3870x2 from the clocks on it and since it is GDDR3.

guess they haven't updated their prices yet just add new products.

I have some bad experience with their support when my 2900XT 1GB went out and they say to RMA it at Newegg where i bought it from instead of directly with them.

4850 takes a big steaming dump on the 38xx series, that pricing is all wrong, they should just do a rename of the 3850/70 to the 4650/70.

or better yet actually make a new core for them, which would be awesome given the performance, heat and overclockability of the 48xx series already.

they could easily chrun something out with 8 ROPS and 400 SP's taking and making considerably less space and heat.

Its the same story in the uk. The HD3870 is still around the £100 - £140 mark whereas you can pick up a HD4850 from as little as £115ish.

The 9800GTX is still a massive rip off over here as well.
