Hello everyone!

My simple question is this: I'm going to buy a Dark Rock 3 (Not pro version) and a corsair 450D . I'm not 100% sure if this cooler is going to fit on the case, can someone please make this clear?

Best regards all!

P.S. Another question, Should i get Corsair 450D or Graphite 760T ??

Thanks about the cooler :)
About the case, can you please tell me why would you prefer the 760T? Isn't the size too much big compared to 450D or the difference isn't that much?

Looks, airflow, room, water cooling abilities, it reconfigures; lots of reasons. The second part is more personal for you, I cannot judge what is too much chassis for you.

I have one gtx 980, i use 1 dvd drive, 1 hdd and 1 sdd. I don't have any interest in watercooling, and maybe someday sli or cf. I think the case a bit overkill but it is so beautiful i just love it but i'm afraid if it's too big, i don't have a huge space for huge cases. I can't find any images comparing both cases side by side.

Unless you NEED to install 13 drives in your case, and 9 expansion cards, I would definitely get the mid tower 450D. Very few people need a monster "full" tower case. The 760T is nearly 3 inches taller, over an inch wider, and nearly 3 inches deeper. That's HUGE! The 760T is also more than 9lbs heavier. All that adds up to a bigger PITA when you have to lug the system outside for cleaning (while both come with filters, dust will still get in and need to be cleaned out). The 450D still supports 7 drives and 7 cards and E-ATX motherboards so it is NOT a cramped environment.

The 450D supports the same number of fans with the only difference being the 760T comes with a 140mm in the back while the 450D a 120mm. Both come with 2 x 140mm in front so airflow is not a problem. Both support the exact same water cooling options too.

So unless you truly need the extra drive and expansion card support, I see no reason to spend $70 more for something you don't need.

As for looks, well, that's just a matter of personal opinion. I think they both look nice but I prefer the more conservative look of the 450D. Why? Because I expect my cases to sit quietly and discreetly off to the side and NOT draw attention to themselves. And that's because I prefer to pay attention to what's on my monitors.

And I would definitely not get a white case either (the 760T comes in Arctic White or Black). White may look nice when new, but not after a year or two. And unless you get white monitors, keyboard, mouse, etc. it will be a mismatch.

Thanks for that huge text.

You're totally right, i don't need all that space for things i'm not going to use. The thing is that i have some stuff from 760T that i love:

- Visual is much better (IMO).
- I find it more build quality.
- It has fan controller, something that 450D doesn't have, this is something i love in a case.
- Much better cable managment.
- Dark Rock 3 will fit better.

The cons:

- Too overkill for me.
- A bit huge for my work/gaming space. I had to arranje some space here somewhere.

The doubts:

- It looks more silent friendly ?

Huge text? That was tiny compared to many when I get going. ;)

I have a Corsair case with one of those AF140L fans in front (and one on top) and the only fan I hear is my graphics card fan when it speeds up. So I don't think the dual speed controller is that big a deal.

I disagree that it has better build quality or cable management. The are both well made and the 450T is NOT a small mid-tower case so there is still plenty of room to route the cables behind the motherboard platform in the 450T. And for that matter, the much taller and deeper case may present a problem for cable management simply because the cables will need to reach farther. This may require the use of more power cables to reach multiple drives. And in fact, with some full tower cases, you have to be careful when selecting your cables to ensure they are long enough.

As for looks, well, if you prefer the looks of the 760T, I won't try to persuade you otherwise. But I will say this - fancy lights do nothing for performance, add some heat, consume some power and do nothing for performance (worth repeating!). And in fact, if you ever watch movies on your computer, those spinning red LED fans can and likely will become distracting.

As for your doubts about silent friendly, I contend your CPU, graphics and PSU fans will be the big offenders and not the case fans - regardless which of those cases you get. That said, unless you will be doing some serious overclocking and need massive amounts of cool air being pulled in, you likely will be able to run with just one fan in front and still keep your internal temps well managed.

Thank you again for your answer.

About the fans, any of the case i get i will replace them with two 140MM Pure Wings in the Front and one 120MM Silent Wing PWM in the back so it's not for the fancy light fans that i would chose the 760T instead of 450D. But well, you almost got me decided to get 450D and that the 760T will be too much, in this case it would be just for the visuals, because i do really love the 760T visuals, still the 450D is very beautiful too.

I have a GTX 980 (silent), 4670k wich i will be getting a Dark Rock 3 for silence too, and those silent case fans too. The thing i love must is silence, and my build is totally for it.

Then it seems you would be paying a whole lot more for nothing if you got the full tower case. If me, that extra $70 could go for more RAM, SSD instead of a HD or towards a nice monitor. And don't forget, a new computer needs a new Windows license too.

I already have a builded PC mate. I'm just improving it .

My specs:

i5 4670K
8GB 1600MHZ G.SKILL CL9
GTX 980
Asus Z97 VII Hero
Cooler Master V850
SSD 850 Evo 250GB
HDD 1TB

My monitor is a Asus VG248QE 144HZ 24''.

I'm just adding a new case, some new fans and a new cooler, that's why i have these indecisions.

So one card and only 2 drives. You surely don't need a full tower case.

I know but the visuals damn... And Dark Rock 3 would fit better on 760T. 450D seems a bit too tide for that cooler.

Not to me. I see more of the case's flow of cool air hitting your cooler instead of slipping overhead - a good thing, IMO.

You might want to go with a case designed for silence, like the 550D, Antec P100, H440, Fractal Design Define R4 (can get these for a great price right now because the R5 is out)

The problem is, i don't like any of those cases, i think them all ugly. The only exception is H440 Black and Red, but still, i hate it lol.

??? Sits to tide...? I don't know what that means. "Sits too high"? But still, I don't see space being an issue with cooling or access. Once the side panel is removed, it is all out in the great wide open. If limited "top" space with inadequate air flow causing heat to be trapped, then you might have a point. But heat will not be trapped on the side.

i think them all ugly.
So when using your computer, are you going to be watching and drooling over your case all day? Or paying attention to what's on your monitors?

A case has two functions (well, three but the last is less important). (1) To provide a sufficient supply of cool air "flowing" through the case. (2) To protect the contents from kicks and bumps. And to a lessor extent, (3), to suppress noise.

Looking pretty is not a case function. That's why I prefer the 450D - even over 550D. Actually, I prefer Antec cases so I also like the Antec Three Hundred Two. Or if you want something a little bigger but still technically a mid-tower, the Antec Eleven Hundred Two is a really nice case too, and still less expensive than the big Corsair.

BTW, note the NZXT H440 does NOT have 5 1/2 drive bay access from the front. That means you cannot install a DVD or BluRay player in that case. :( That means watching DVD or BluRay movies will require an external drive connected via unreliable USB. It also means installing Windows will have to be done via a USB connected external player too. I find that a major disadvantage and con for that case.

Possibly meant wide... It may be hitting the Ram or obstructing the first PCI-e slot as some do.

Possibly - but I would call that dimension "deep" but not wide - at least with tower cases. I guess we need the OP to clarify.

Hello guys!

I wanted to say, if i could close the case (450D) with this cooler because he seems too big for it, is there anything to prove (images or something) that it fits?

Cooler is 160mm tall, Case specs show it will fit a cooler 165mm tall. In short, yes the cooler will fit!
I preferred the 760T
If sneekypeet says it will fit, it will fit.:D (He reviews both cases and coolers, just not on this site)

PSU is 300 watts too big. Forgot that you might SLI
i5-4690k is basically the same price but has the better TIM and higher stock clocks.
