Hi, i just bought a 700 watt psu and a gtx 460 video card for my dimension e520.

(Links: http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/EZCool-Infi...omputing_PowerSupplies_EH&hash=item45fcb2a155

http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/Palit-Sonic...raphics_Video_TV_Cards_TW&hash=item336b3c1db6

Right after that, i searched up to make sure it perfectly goes with my pc.
I found some articles that tells me that my gtx 460 won't fit in the case.
But i also found people that tell that it will fit in the e520.

I'm kind of confused, the gpu & psu can arrive now at any day so i'm kind of worried.
I already upgraded my gpu onec to a geforce 9500gt pci-e.
Gtx 460 is should be a PCI-E too.

The gtx460 also takes 2 card slots. I'm going to open my case to see if it can fit my pc.

If anyone has some suggestions, please tell them.

Thanks, Apple.

Since you already ordered it, the best thing to do would be to see if it fits when you get it.
If not, maybe a little case modding will give it the room it needs.

I'm pretty sure that my E520 only has 4 expansion slots, and that the PCIe x16 slot is the top one (PC is BTX form factor and slots are upside down). If you got a dual slot GTX 460 you may be out of luck.

Please refer to page 68 of this PDF showing the BTX motherboard layout. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dimE520/en/OM_en/NH730A01.pdf

I opened up my case and i see that my PCI slots are on top and the PCI-E is under them.
And it has 2 slots and my GTX460 needs 2 slots aswell, i will just wait it out and see what will happen.

I will inform if i get it.

Thanks until than, Apple.

If your board differs from the picture, then you may be lucky. If there is a free slot above the PCIe x16 slot, then you should be okay.

Like i said, i will update my thread, so here i am :D

My card isn't fitting in my pc correctly, is it a big problem if i cut parts out of the plastic fan holder and my cpu heatsink plastic holder? The fan wont be as stable but 1 screw still holds it...

Update 2: So i've removed my original fan and placed another one that fits in it. Sadly my temp on the card runs up to 80C by just playing a non-intense game.

Ive played league of legends for about 3-4 hours without any problems (60C-80C) on high/very high settings.
After that i ran the new Dead Island on high settings after 2-3 mins my monitor blacked out and i had to reboot.

I'm thinking about getting a Zalman VF2000 cooling, but i don't really know if it's worth it. The stock cooling is a f****ing joke. I've bought a simple fan for 10 euros, but as you can see, it's worthless.

I bought the card used so i can't RMA, i really don't know what to do, i need help.

Things I've tried:

CoD4 with custom performance config: 70c-80c (10 min gameplay)
League of Legends: 60c - 70c (3-4 hrs gameplay)
Dead Island: 80c - 105c (2-3 min gameplay)
CoD: Black ops: 70c (5 min gameplay)

I will post some pictures of my pc as soon as i can.

If someone has the Palit GTX 460 2GB version and can help, please do i really need help.

Specs:

Intel Q6600 2.4 (no oc)
Palit GTX460 2GB (700mhz stock)
4gb 800mhz ram
700w ezcool infinity PSU
Intel G43 chipset (i know it's old)

My pc is 6 years old i know it's old i bought it back in 2006. It's a dell dimension e520, the case is pretty small but the card still fits in it.

Any help is appriciated,

Thank you, Apple.
