yea to be honest i mean there is no real reason to upgrade to conroe. there are no games that are even challenging the hardware out now. with conroe the gfx will become the bottleneck so theres really no point. if all u are about is benchmarking and superpi then u should get the conroe. otherwise theres no real point in getting one.

wow dude you scream noob..
with the new physics and more and more cpu limited games these days the cpu is a main part of the game.. hell pi calculation is jsut about the same thing as collision detection in games and physics equations... it has been proven that the more memory bandwidth the cpu has the higher fps..well as long as latencies are low, which is another thing superpi shows..

I guess we see whos getting the Conroe. :toast:
But Is name calling really needed here?...I mean...over the web I've traveled..the Name callers are usually the Fanboys looking for a fight...yes Conroe Is sweet looking....and yes the Intel fan side has been waiting for this to finally say.."Look...Intel IS better than AMD"...because GOD knows that It's been awhile for you Intel guys. :D

Seriously though.....Conroe Is a great looking setup Indeed......But.....I'm still waiting on the word from the AMD camp about thier newest trick up thier sleeve........Coding thier Dual Core CPU's based on AM2 tech that'll join up and act as a single CPU with games and apps....giving 2x the times processing power......no more 2x 2500Mhz..nope...the Duals will be seen as a single 5ghz CPU to apps and games......If It pans out....AMD and Intel will have a smokin summer....which pans well for us the consumer.....Oh Yea Baby. :rockout:

I need this new AMD tech...because that 5ghz Conroe Is making my mouth water. :respect:

kiss my ass dude, thats all i can say. theres no difference in getting 250 vs 300 fps in games. ur the n00b who wants to tell his fat ugly girlfriend (that u wish u had) how u got under 10 seconds in Superpi 1M. wow ur cool, not, keep throwing money down the drain i really dont care. its an opinion, btw my current a64 kicks the crap out of ur piece of junk P4, just in case u didnt know.

guess u got me there haha, but i guess in terms of the games i play like counter strike source it really does not challenge the hardware.

QTF

This also makes the case even worse for the old hardware. Gamecoders doesnt need to optimize the game to run playable with older hardware (6800 -series X800 -series) cause market has something that will offer way more performance (7800 -series, X1800 -series and so on). Piratism also doenst help to this fact at all.

What comes to the AM2 and Conroe I think it would be better to leave the whole conversation off from everywhere. It just that everytime you see AMD fanbois saying "Conroe sucks", it looks they ran out of excuses because there's faster Intel processors then theirs AMD. Conroe is fastest on SuperPi and if you also compare some 3D scores against AMD S939/AM2 system the Conroe will lead there too, not as much as in SuperPi but it will still lead.
