I bought a Sapphire 3870 when it first came out, and I'm thinking of getting a second. Do they have to be the same or can I mix mine with a Toxic?

u can mix and match.. i have two odd cards.. the CCC lets u clock them separately and the performance isnt limited by the slower card with the 3xxxx series..

one of my cards is a gigabyte mongrel thing with gddr3 memory.. the other a normal ati reference design card..

Yeah you can choose whatever the clocks you want, but the setup will run on the slowest settings. Here you have an interview with Terry Makedon, catalyst lead, who said exactl that:

You can mix different cards, but there's no point in paying more for a faster card than the one you have. It could make sense for the cooler though.
