Honestly, I think that Disney is much more interested in UE here as a VFX tool than anything gaming related. Especially considering Epic doesn’t really make games anymore.

This is a brief article that sort of shows it's no big deal, especially considering they've been collaborating since 2017. I think this is more about the return on the benjamins.

Disney will get approx. a 5% share.

In contrast, Tencent own 40%.

I wonder if it has any effect on GOG. ..After all they are in partnership with EPIC.

It will have, approximately, between zero and none. Companies buy minority stakes in other companies all the time. The whole news isn’t really that noteworthy.

Can't assert that Disney's creativity and execution are anywhere admirable. Both are gone forever as game makers. They both are mere shadows of themselves.

It's been a while, when Lucas Arts was a match to the definition of Art. And the last fun in-house project of Epic Games, was Unreal Tounament 3, which basically being destroyed by their owners, decades later.

The only thing that deserves credit, is that UE engine itself, that became a powerful and well designed platform available for many developrs. And particularly how Tim Sweeney singlehandedly made UE4.

Other than that, the damage been done when they been non formally sold to 10cents. This feels like the final rummage sale. Saddly. And knowing the Disney, it's going to come at the price, that hit the industry. This is akin to nVidia tried to buyout ARM.

Edit: I didn't even mention of cancelling of 1313, which could be way greater and interesting project, than rubbish Battlefield 1 with Star wars assets.

Sorry for many unecessary words.
