Display changes to 16-bit, low resolution!

In serious trouble guys.. was playing GTA IV and my monitor suddenly went off and the 'no signal' thing came up.. then it rebooted by itself.. everything turned to 16 bit, resolution to 640x480.. And i can see random black boxes on the screen.. check out the picture.. What could be the prob? I removed 306.23 drivers and switched back to 301.. but still it doesnt help.. Nvidia's Control pannel stopped opening.. it says 'no Nvidia GPU found' Im using a GTX 560 with win 7 ultimate.. need help! :cry:

That's 8-bit/256-colors mode, and yes your card is most likely fried.

Could that be the reason guys? no driver prob etc? the card was purchased quite recently

and physically it seems to be working, i can see the fan spinning..

Usually when an NVIDIA GPU suddenly craps out and is no longer recognized by Windows, it has encountered a significant hardware problem and can no longer run properly. Return your card to the manufacturer for service under warranty if possible.

Okay then will get it RMAd.. i did notice a strange thing though, started GPU-Z and it shows cores as 384.. but the 560 only has 336 cores.

Have you tried re-seatting the card, removing power cables then reattching?

Doubt it will help, but worth a try.

With my on board graphics, everything seems to be okay.. i also ran my neighbors card to see if something was wrong with the PCIE slot.. but it also worked properly.. so its the card.. will get it RMAd soon.
