Do you find yourself having to overclock your video card to play the games you like with AA and AF? Lets see what the polls say.

Wanting is more the descriptive in my case. I can run everything well enough at stock, but its always better if I OC them...lol

I have a 4870 an I overclock when necessary. I mostly play CSS or TF2 so no overclocking is required, but if I'm playing Crysis, I'll OC to 850 core and 1100 memory.

I don't HAVE to oc usually, most would do fine at stock, but I usually do anyway. Some games I do need to oc, but b/c of the way the poll was worded, I said no.

I think you need to add a category: I overclock because I enjoy it.

I don't NEED to overclock for any reason other than just to do it.

I selected NO, only because I don't need to overclock my cards to play the games I like, including Crysis. However, I do overclock them 24/7 because it makes the games I play slightly more enjoyable.

    Overclock for benchmarking.
    Stock for games.

The small increase in performance in games doesn't justify the increased power usage and heat output, when overclocking my HD4870.

Don't need to overclock them, but do for the <free> increased performance. If I HAD to overclock my videocard to play a game, then I would rather buy a second videocard to run sli/xfire or buy a whole new videocard.

only ever overclock for benching, and crysis. Games like crysis and COD:4 tend to run smoother tbh. However, like another guy on here, the game i mainly play is CS:S which requires no overclocking at all. Then again, i am using a TOP model so its practically overclocked 24/7, unless i over-overclock it . . . lol.

I generally dont OC much. Most games I play dont need it. I generally just bench my card, and mod it to enhance stability and longevity.

I overclock for F@H and Crysis... 3850 runs too slow at stock.

But soon I won't have to :) ordered a GTX 280 a few days ago.

    EDIT:

Well I wanted to order a GTX 280... never did.

I was going to answer that poll, then I realized that all I use my system for it benching, so I can't answer that, but of course my 4850's are OCed.
