When I see DDR3 on a AMD motherboard"wish they would go triple or quad channel BUT" and a quad that can run at 4.0Ghz and at a low price with killer performance. Well then yes.

I'm ready to see what they have. I have yet to see any vantage/06 scores yet. It's all talk with no show still.

I voted "Very Excited" but I also wanted to vote "Intel Rocks" :p

I'm excited to see AMD being able hold up against Intel. Everyone loves an underdog!

Market shares: definitely. Bought 200 shares in hopes that between their new ati line up and the PII they will gain a lot of head room in the market. Keeping my fingers crossed on this one though. Don't like loosing money in the market.
I'm still a fan boy of intel but hey when it comes to market shares money is money.

Rival Intel: Sadly not this round but hopefully by their next revision they may come close. Or they may come close on this one who knows.

I will be excited if these CPU's do perform as good and just a bit better then C2D, the new i7 is just over kill, way over priced, and not great for gaming anyway, but that said i think a Quad core for gaming isnt good anyway, only one game good for usin Quads and thats Supreme Commander. as i just tested a new Quad core on the weekend i build and it ran that game easy as ;)
Im realy waiting to see how the new Dual Cores from AMD will go, alot better for gaming and more affordable. and i can sell and build alot more of these hehe

well i for one dont see what all the excitement is about, theres not a new architecture with phenom II its just based on 45nm instead of 65nm with a bit more cache

imo phenom can barely come close to high end c2d let alone c2q (when overclocked, and lets face it thats what we do with opur cpu's on tpu ? )so everyone talking about phenom II rivalling i7 really should get into the real world more often and accept that amd havent pulled it out of the bag with phenom II its just a revamped/rebadged phenom (8800-9800 anyone?)

im not an amd hater by any means, heck most of my chips have been amd from a a xp 1900+ thoroughbred to an 2500+ barton, 3200+ barton, a64 3200+ and x2 3800+ windsor but after owning a phenom x3 and being sorely dissapointed, and watching it get its ass kicked by a e4300 @ 3ghz i doubt phenom II will bring anything new to the table.

although i do hear that amd's next processor after phenom II will be a completely new architecture (not just a die shrink) so hopefully things will start to get interesting and maybe ati can regain the performance crown once again

I hope to build a New machine this year, since my main is considered before primordial soup.

Hope I build around a BE Unit of Kuma, Athlon X4, or even Phenom 2,

DDR2 will be used

Improved Radeon 700/770 Graphics or even R800.

*sigh* -

I have a Q6600 - and NO specific fanboi disorder relating to brands.

I just want the best chip for my money.. and I STILL out-bench ANYTHING that has been posted regarding the new PhX4's... (Running in NORMAL home usage, non nitrogen based systems)

All I see is that the BRAND NEW PhX4 - cant even MATCH the performance of a 3 year old Intel chip under actual real world conditions.

YES my Q6600 is overclocked... but not by much.. and running on standard NON heatpipe zalman air cooling..

But basically this tells me that the "NEW" PhX4 cant even MATCH a 3 year old Intel design (that is cheaper now anyway)- so I don't see what the big deal is.

Here come the flames, but I don't care... My old AMD Barton2500 was a real trooper back in the day and I was really proud of how long it lasted me, but that was then, this is now and the new AMD' are utter Schyte (Given how much more time and research has gone into them).

And I'm not flapping fanboi nonsense , I HAVE the 3 year old Intel chip that kicks the PhX4's ass to prove it- anyone is welcome to come bench my PC themselves if they don't believe me.

And if you cant accept facts - then I suppose you're welcome to just go crawl back under yer fanboi rock, along with all the Mac users (just kidding :p).

-- EDIT : Truth is I WISH AMD could get their act together and start actually competing with Intel again - that would push prices down for all of us, fanboi's or not, but that time has simply not yet come. :(

Can I post my Specs? - Yep - I just dont realy belive the world is interested in my specs... that and they tend to change rather unexpectedly.. so why bother...

Q6600 is only 2 years old .. (Brains some maths... ) Im pretty sure I got mine early in 2007.. and they had been around a while before that... Its 2009 now...

Ok .. maybe 2 and a half years?

All I know is I havent needed to pay for CPU / RAM / MOBO since 2007 and AMD STILL cannot compete.. the PhX4 is the closest they have come, but they STILL cant outrun me, and it would cost a pile to replace everything just to run a slower processor...

So whats the point? - Im sure if you purchaced a bottom of the range intel 2 years ago the PhX4 would look good now.. but you can get old Q6600 stock for half the price today.. so price Is not even a factor.. and older intel MOBOs are far cheaper than brand new AMD ones...

EDIT : So basically anyone on earth who has purchased a high end Intel in the last 2 years would be wasting their time and money with the PhX4... The only ppl who stand to gain from the PhX4 are ppl who originally purchased low end / Budget pc's in the first place (AMD OR Intel) and are now raving that a new top end CPU is SO great... WELL OF CORSE IT IS, if you cheaped out in the first place?!

Even fully overclocked (again under every day real world conditions - I am aware of 6ghz scores under nitrogen, but unless you HAVE a nitrogen cooled system please refrain from posting) the new PhX4 can only a 10% ~ 15% advantage over older overclocked upper-midrange systems, and who on earth is dumb enough pay for an entire new Cpu / Mobo / Ram (100% more cost) for a 10% increase in performance?

Sorry if the facts offend :\

That would be the end of November 2006. So, 2 years and a month. And it probably could beat the Q6600 released back then. It's only the newer G0 model, released half a year later that made it worthy.

Small question, why is everyone making excuses for AMD?

Because even though they suck, they're still crucial as competition to Intel, without which every one of their CPU's would cost an arm and a testicle.

I grasp the economics of competition, If the roles were reversed the current situation would still be applicable ... but even then, why the excuses?

In regards to Phenom II, Gravity Kills puts it well: "It's not enough!"

They really aren't priced to move like the Athlon processors either so, I will continue to be staying away from either Phenom line until something changes (their performance increases or their price becomes a steal).
