LOL, skipped straight to the so called "new gameplay trailer", as the others have been shown before, and instead all it is for the most part is the Id team talking about the decal system they implemented way back when Rage's textures were being complained about, and it was an inadequate bandaid solution at best.

I still don't see anything compelling about this game. When they say best looking game at 60 FPS, it's clear they're OK with mediocre visuals to maintain that frame rate. It's also laughable they gloat about how much they've done in the last 9 mo because they wasted 6 years on Rage mostly due to lack of proper communication and having to rework things numerous times because of it.

You know those people that have 15 minutes of fame because they can't adapt with the times and keep trying to cling to past accomplishments, that's Id. Like Croteam did with Serious Sam, they keep clinging to the same game, same content, and same mistakes that go with.

Games like Doom or Serious Sam can go on forever. Sam will never kill Mental, doom guy will never defeat endless imps. They don't require any plot just shoot everything that moves. I agree with you that it's the same content but then again what else can be there? It's a tough dilemma should they head shot the series or continue or do something really new.

Truly good developers are capable of keeping a good series fresh, vs stagnating it.

Sounds like its yelling Activision....:laugh::laugh: Call Of Duty 1 - 1000, oh wait lets change the name. Black Ops, white ops, red ops, orange ops. And oh, keep the same graphics as our players "love" our storyline.

Kojima did a good job (not perfect though) with MGS. All that exclusivity stuff were annoying. One had to own 5 consoles to play all games (I'm not even talking about old metal gear games).

Metroid games were amazing unfortunately the upcoming game doesn't sound promising.

Squenix did a good job with FF and Kingdom Hearts but again that annoying "go-buy-n-consoles-to-play-all-games-and-see-what-happens" stuff.

Resident Evil and Tomb Raider are great because they supported lots of different platforms/consoles. But series got really stagnant after Resi 5. Some might even say Resi 4.

Speaking of portable games, CAPCOM is the first company that came to my mind.

Having a great number of players and fanbase wanting to play Monster Hunter, i can't see why wouldn't they ever release a proper MH online using the PC. Look at their RE.....(Though it's going from horror to fast-paced zombie killing game with the new RE Online)

Other than that, they did a pretty good job with RE4 and 5.

Not really, Id has always had more technical skill than creative, and it shows in their only improving graphically, and not much even there.

No matter the "point" behind a game, if it doesn't stay fresh it stagnates. There are plenty of examples of franchises that have successfully brought new ideas into their games.

The only reason Id gets away with it is they take a LONG time between installments. Otherwise most would be saying enough already.

ID was pretty innovative back in the day. Doom 1 and 2 looked and played exactly the same but after that they invented lots of things. Quake 1 was really good, then Quake 2 which was totally different and Quake Arena (probably the best deathmatch mp ever). RTCW was good, Doom 3 was good.
Quake 4 was meh, it looked like heavily modified Doom 3 and didn't offer anything substantial. It was a boring corridor shooter with lots of gore and dark areas.

headless shooters who gives a crap.

To me its all about the storyline, I dont care if a game has great multiplyer, if thats what I want I will get that. I want a good singleplayer, then I deside IF I wants to go multi for it, but I buy the game fore the singleplayer story. Say BF4 what a joke, grafics is decent, but the story is gone down the drain since BFBC.

Right on Quake 4, wrong on Rage. Raven did Quake 4, Id did Rage under Bethesda. If it wasn't already obvious who developed Rage after all the prelaunch videos they released, John Carmack gave a 3 hr keynote speech as well after Rage's launch, detailing a lot of reasons for the lengthy development and problems they encountered, due primarily to poor communication within the team.

RAGE was developed by a new team hired by Bethesda that Carmack consulted on. It wasn't made by the original ID team. Last game they made was DOOM 3. Carmack has pretty much hung up his hat and is focusing on Armadillo Aeronautics. Ya know he is literally a rocket scientist. He is also a lead on Oculus.

That's pretty much exactly what it was Carmack was only for technical consulting.

You said it wasn't Id though, and the team was actually called Id under Carmack's guidance just like Id always was before that.

You're implying that whenever a team's core group leaves they should change their name, even if their led by the same person.

I don't know if you watched the keynote speech Carmack gave, but he was as much if not more involved in Rage than prior projects, because he not only helmed the programming dept, but came up with the concept of Megatextures as well, which was actually THE biggest change in engine deign from previous projects. In that speech he took responsibility for most of the problems, primarily due to his not communicating well enough.
