Ok so I got my machine with Vista, unwillingly, and I was wondering if anyone has experienced dual booting both OSs on the same partition of your hard drive?

The main concerns I have are:
1: Would there be a risk of getting a conflict error even if each OS has it's own directory?

2: Would games and other programs run slower being that there is that much more space taken up on my hard drive? I have 4 gigs of RAM and a decently fast drive speed.

Don't dual boot off the same partition, it just isn't a good idea. Partition the drive properly if you want to dual boot.
    Sabotage says thanks.

Make sure to install windows then vista first from what I have heard the other way around gives to many problems. You will have to make 2 partitions on your drive. As for conflict there shouldn't be any as I havn't had any problems but one thing I do to save space is install one game on one os (XP) and then when I go to the other os (VISTA) I just find the game on the other os (XP) and play it.
    Sabotage says thanks.

There is but I don't know the name. I know you can do it in windows without a program.

Oh that's no good because I bought my computer pre-assembled and it came with vista so I want to add XP. How bad is that going to be?
