Dual/Triple Channel RAM

Is dual/triple channel memory kit-specific? Like, say I buy 2 identical but separate sticks of 2GB DDR3 memory from a store and run them in dual channel slots, do they run like a normal dual channel kit?

PS - How can I tell if Crucial memory has Micron ICs? I know of a store that sells the memory for a comparable price to Newegg, and spec-wise they are identical (i.e. cas/speed/voltage).

no they are not specific. it just boils down to how many sticks are in the pack - 2/4 or 3/6

part 1 yes it will work, but each stick may OC to different levels.

PS part... AFAIK all Crucial is Micron, its what type of micron that gets the results.

I recall some are Elpida... I was reading reviews on Newegg on some Crucials and yeah... they said it used to be Micron but then they started shipping Elpida.
