I bought a DVDRW drive last week, however whenever I insert a disc whether a blank piece of media or a retail game or movie disc Windows Vista X64 stops responding. I'm forced to do a hard shutdown.
Initially I thought the DVDRW drive was defective however the bios detects the drive and when booting from a "bootable disc" such as windows XP CD the drive boots fine from it, however the same CD will cause the system to stop responding in windows. I've updated my motherboard's chipset drivers, SATA controllers, and updated the firmware.
The Drive is: Optiarc AD-7200S
bought from: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139414
Edit: forgot to mention mullered07 that I've updated the firmware to 1.06
Edit 2:
Tried that
Edit 3:
I've fixed the issue. I turned off DMA in the controller settings. Thanks for everyones help
