well like the title says my 8800GT is dying, 444/1065/750 from 625/1500/900 so yea its slowly dying, now i know from 8800GT stock to Hd 4850 is a small upgrade in some games and a good upgrade in most, now i'm curious since my GT is downclocked will the fact that it is downclocked make that much of a difference in comparison to a HD 4850 than a stock GT compared to the HD 4850

With that much of a downclock, there's probably a very noticeable difference.

Even an overclocked 8800gt can't compete with a 4850... A down clocked is getting bitten hard.

    8800gt<8800gts<9800gtx

    4850>9800gtx

Now is it worth the extra $50-$60 is another question.

I'd say so. about 40% more performance and DX10.1? (I know it's not a big deal yet)

Plus 4850s aren't notorious for dying.

well i am a gamer for sure, and with starcraft 2 in the future i heard something like Dec 12th, farcry 2, and i plan on buyin some current games like supreme commander i want to be able to run those max at 1680x1050. all dx10 and my GT currently can play COH(not expansion) at about 20-30fps, which is not what i want, but still playable. so i imagine getting teh HD 4850 should hopefully bump it to 30-40fps. as for the money yeas my b-day is Oct 18th and its goin to be 170 or so for me, i cna't sell this downclocked gpu don't know anyone that would buy it.
