Electronic Arts and Massive Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft Corp. and a leading network for video game advertising, today announced an expansion and two-year extension of their agreement to offer dynamic in-game advertising for EA video games. Under the new agreement dynamic ads will be incorporated into a number of titles including the next two editions of EA's Madden NFL football, NBA LIVE basketball, NASCAR racing and NHL hockey. Massive will continue to be the exclusive in-game ad network for the PC and Xbox 360 versions of EA's Need for Speed Carbon and Need for Speed ProStreet. Massive will also try to incorporate dynamic advertising into another popular EA racing title, Burnout Paradise. "EA strongly believes that dynamic in-game advertising is an important growth area for our business, and is one of many opportunities we are pursuing in growing the advertising market," said Kathy Vrabeck, president of the Casual Entertainment Label at EA. "We selected Massive because they are the industry leader in this space with a global sales footprint, solid brand recognition and in-depth experience in video game advertising."

as long as it doesn't impact the gameplay, i say its alright
after all, it should make up for the amount of people that download games instead of buying them

The xbox users will be the real losers in this deal because while the pc versions of games will be free to play online xbox users will be paying xbox live to stream in game advertising, so basically M$ is cashing in twice.

LMAO I laughed for a few minutes straight at that. And yes, thanks EA. The next time some 12 year old wants to be a punk and do the pause glitch in Madden 08 to not get a loss, I'll have a good time staring at your ads. A few weeks ago someone did the glitch and I saw 10,000 BC ads along with other things.

man this is to the user that said they dont care as long as the gameplay doesn't change...the damn gameplay of their recent games suck....especially in live...everytime they implement a new control system then take it out in a year...i am tired of this shit...live this year was such a let down..PS3...not to mention the online gameplay with these abusive gamers...live even has a glitch like the old nba 2k for dreamcast had in which a player shoots a free throw misses it and either catch it back in mid air and dunk it for 2 extra points or a so called alli and the 2 points...
unfortunately 2k8 is no better...the gameplay in 2k7 was the best in quite a while...that game played like a complete bball game...i dont even wanna start on MADDEN...

Meh... I actually see it the other way around. More ads in games = Less sales = More downloads... But I dunno.

it all depends WHERE the ads are. billboards can be annoying - so can ads in the main menu or load screens.

Where this needs to go, is free games and the ads pay for it - no piracy at ALL if the games free, yet they still make money.

or at least on the console side of things, make the game dirt cheap - $20 instead of $50 USD, or $30-$40 Au instead of the stupid $100-$120 we get here sometimes...

If this would make games cheaper, I wouldn't feel so offended.
If EA would make games that are less buggy , I wouldn't feel robbed.:shadedshu
ALSO if they would make a decent game once in a while, that would make me happy.

What if Microsoft added freakin' banners to it's OS-es?
I'd jump to Linux faster than you can say "Format C: /u /c"

I don't think it would be like that. I could see them saying "Games cost more to devople these days. So this really just off sets the cost for us."Making the games still50-60usd.

I really don't mind it so long as it stays like it is because it's only in real life environments where you would expect it. Now if you start putting pepsi ads in Halo, then the shit is gonna hit the fan.

They are part of the MMM companies... Money Making Maching incorp.

Instead of improving on the games they create, they'd rather monopolise the world. As DanishDevil said bug off EA!:banghead:

So they buy everyone out, and then they fill it all with ads? Jeez! Bug off!
