New video was just released from Betheseda. There hasn't been a ton of information out there on this yet, but it looks pretty damn amazing to be honest. They got some great ideas like "mega server", allowing you to chose any weapons/armor type you want, and a few others. Keeping my eye on this and EQNext.

I swear to god if this isn't an action RPG, they are fucking dumb. And it looks like it is a fucking wow clone.

As you can see this video made me extremely pissed off.

Yeah I remember some information about it a while ago and it is going to be a WoW type game as I remember.

Its just gonna be a MMORPG as far as I've heard. If they make it subscription though, I will hurt them. Maybe they can do something like LOTRO? Have it free, then have a subscriber services where you get access to more things etc. Cause they can't make it free, they need their moneyz.

    Elder Scrolls is action RPG.

Back in the day, before WoW, a lot of MMORPGs went the action-RPG route They were fun to actually pick up and play, the actual gameplay was fun. Copying WoWs success,
I hope bethesda fails, and fails so hard they are no longer a company, and have to file bankruptcy.

TESV was my favorite game, over 100 hours played (which is a lot for me on a single player game). This was when I thought they could do no wrong.

I really do feel very strongly about this. We need to move away from the auto-attack auto-everything MMO. It is just easy for companies to follow the same model, and all they see is dollar signs, not innovation.

I want to swing a sword and hit something, shoot a fireball and have skill determine a hit/miss. I want to climb something and explore without some invisible boundary.

Which is what the Elder Scrolls MMO is, also Tera. I think Age of Conan is also another that comes to mind.

Honestly, I think you're asking a little too much for a mainstream mmo. Not everyone wants that, go with what works. Other games have tried the model you want, and they have failed.

What I want first, is a coop! Or a first person MMORPG, but they need make it right, not like global agenda or other crappy ones.

How much money and time has been lost by companies trying to beat wow with wow.

If we always went with what works, you would be a stick in the mud.

Call of Duty goes with what works, but that is still a hell of a lot better than current MMO models.

Notice they hide the hud. They know everyone's going to bitch at how generic it is. Doesn't take a genius to figure out how this will end.

    You just made my day.

I hope they fail with all of my being. If a company like Bethesda fails on this, maybe they will stop making the same shit, and think its finally time to innovate.

Stop thread shitting and actually listen to what they say, seriously this games got very limited info right now, sick of thread shitting around here lately. So sick of people just screaming about how crappy something is without some info, would actually like to have a discussion about a game. I don't mind people disliking something, but that can be said while not coming off like a child.

They mentioned left click for main attacks and actually holding right click to block, thats not even close to how wow works. Will it be completely action like? Maybe yes, maybe no. Who knows, but that right there already says it's not a complete hotkey system, so cool the damn jets.

    I've sworn off MMO's.

Elder Scrolls Online will likely make me break that promise.

Yeah I'm on my MMO break, I've been playing them for the last decade, so finally time to relax and play some other genre's. But this and EQNext are what I have my eyes on. I think they are both at least 1 - 2 years away, and I'm in no real hurry, so thats fine by me.

I hate this game because originally it was supposed to be Fallout Online. But with Skyrim so successful and that stupid lawsuit they settled for Elder Scrolls. I hate them for that. I wanted Fallout. Other then that it looks to be WoW with better graphics.

TES: O (Almost made a silly smily there <---- ) is developed by ZeniMax Online Studios and NOT by Bethesda.

The game is said to take place a millennia before Skyrim, with some rough math this means the fifth century of the second era, 800 years before the oblivion crisis. Even if it is considered canon it should not affect The Elder Scrolls 6 much more than a few extra books/lore.

Mixing a good series with an MMO element can either be lucrative like LOTR, SWTOR, or it can be a disastrous punch in the gut to fans of the series like Battlestar Galactica Online. This looks to be a run-of-the-mill generic MMO with an Elder Scrolls theme so I expect that a lot of fanboys (myself included) will get butthurt.

Fallout Online was being made by Interplay/Masthead Studios, this is actually being made by Betheseda, so I wouldn't exactly correlate the death of one with the life of the other. And once again it seems like an opinion of someone who doesn't play MMO's or didn't watch the video. Left click to attack and right click to block is how Skyrim works, and how they said this will work (WoW is auto attack with hotkeys), this is a mega server, WoW is in Shards.

I could be wrong on your seat time with WoW, but I played that game for 7 years, maybe you did actually play. And if you did, explain what would make it a clone rather than just using a blanket statement of "wow clone".

You have trouble reading? Your the one shitting, then saying it might not be shit, as the game isn't out yet and it could be true. Which many things could be true, the games slated for 2013, not much info is out yet, so we'll see as it unfolds. So far you have made almost half the posts in this thread, and none of it has been constructive, it just all seems like crying.

Theres things I dislike that are thread topics on here, I just stay away from them as it's not constructive for me to step in and make fun of those things. I mean you got your opinion out, you think it's going to be crap, you hate Betheseda for doing it, is there much else to say about that? Or you just going to rehash it in every posts?

I don't know, I like the concept of any armor type with any weapon type. Having an open skill set like that isn't run of the mill, I'm not sure any MMO has done that yet. Some of the examples they said like Heavy Armor + Bows or Robes + Two-Handers. If they can really make these things work and let anyone use the weapon types they want while using the armors they want. There will be interesting classes like Spell Swords and other crazy mixes that should be fun. Thats if they make it that open, which it sounds like they are trying, we can only hope though.

This has raid parties and isn't an FPS.

TES: Online has absolutely nothing to do with the Bethesda team, it is being made by a subsidary of ZeniMax.

The Fallout Online project was shut down completely, not "converted".
