Hmmm and mostly console complaints huh? Good news for us PC gamers then I take it?

I'm at work so I can't check steam or the official forums. I'll install the patch when I go home though. I've been looking forward to some of the changes.

they already need to come out with the next generation of consoles so that we do not have to deal with this DX 9 BS anymore.

My shadows look like garbage in this game.

No, they are in a way; however, i was talking to Crazyeyes about this. Blethesda did what they did with this game graphically on PC because they probably knew that if they allowed modders to come in and change it, then the end result is the PC gamers will get what they wanted, without Blethesda spending money doing it during development.

i can see that. i'm not sure it's as simple as that.(deadlines, and we know mods aren't flawless). but i would also have to agree that's very likely a large part.

prt scr is handled by Skyrim itself and only shows the game's visual output. I need to take my Afterburner overlay, as well as all the monitoring data on the secondary monitor. Sadly because Skyrim handles prt scr, it only shows the game itself...

i see, i thought you had it on 2 monitors. zscreen, fraps, there's a TPU tool but i haven't used it yet.

Bethesda fails again!

Just got home and saw that Sykrim was updated.. tried loading without the 4gb.exe just to see and I got to the loading screen and the menu text wasn't showing up...

So i turned off all my interface mods, custom fonts, etc.. still wasn't showing up. So I turned off ALL my mods, loaded it again, got the menu back, but I can't even load a save game before it CTDs.

So now, I can't use any interface mods, fonts, etc... Val's Crafting Meltdown, and the QD Inventory mod will make it so the menu text doesn't show up...
annnd I still need to use the 4gb.exe or it crashes...

That is what Bethseda did, or believed they did, that is true. But their goal and what they achieved are different. They said this would be a new engine, it isn't. It's nice that it supports more than 1 CPU core right now, but it needs more than that, this game hits CPU's very hard. And it just overall needs improvements, like CF/SLI has been in use for over half a decade (I think about 6 years now), yet that isn't supported out of the box, or the fact that they make a game they intend modders to finish up and polish off for PC, but they don't give us LAA and they basically endorse the one method that bypass all driver improvements.

In the end, Bethseda knew that the game would sell the numbers they wanted, despite all of the changes that were needed. They made it half way to what we needed, problem is, that just creates bottlenecks.

LAA will never be added. your stuck with the EXE method single gpu and overclocking the dog snot out of your PC to get performance where it should be,

whats funny is I checked out Morrowind the other day,

they now have realtime dynamic shadows. heres the real kicker. there shadows look better then Skyrims on a game that had dynamic shadows grafted on to a DX 8.1 Net Immerse engine aka the basis for Gamebryo and then Creation engine. Kinda funny really, if morrowind had a new body mod, and someone to code new interface / effects like theyve manged to change the DX API and render methods Morrowind would end up being the better looking, better running and better game overall.. Im enjoying skyrim of all recent games ive bought its the best, hands down, still falls flat when compared to games from the past in many respects tho.

All thats missing for morrowind is better body mod on par with whats released today with decent normal mapping. and bam, lol eitherway ill just wait it out till Bethesda finishes the initial round of patching then ill get a different version thats not on steam and edit the exe as i please.

Yeah it's incredible what they've done with the graphics mods and such but the one thing that will always make Morrowind a less-than-enjoyable overall experience for me is the craptastic combat mechanics.

And I admit to not fully understanding all this LAA crap but, at least with your .exe and the 11.11b drivers, everything runs just fine and dandy Ultra on my my rig with crossfire. I haven't tweaked ugrids and such, for the record. I'm talking pre-1.2 patch too though. Not at home right now...

Without LAA I CTD on average maybe once every 2 to 3 hours. My CTD happens at the exact moment I press any button but I found that if I save often that when it does happen it's usually not the end of the world. But using the LAA I never CTD and my CF works still so i don't care that I have to use it. Not yet anyway. I don't use any other game mods though either which is causing a lot of problems I'm sure even if some people don't want to admit it.

And by the way; Where in the hell can I sell stuff where a vendor has 1000's of coin? Every single vendor I find has at most 750$ and I have loads of stuff valued at over 3000$ each. I'm just hoarding the stuff because I refuse to sell it for pennies.

have you checked the actual sell value? i doubt anything you have will sell for $3k or close, unless you invested in speechcraft. it's value and sell value are different. the only way to get more money is to get speechcraft maxed, there is a perk. i don't think it's necessary though.

selling your crap requires storing stuff and waiting for merchants to get more cash, or finding one that has stuff you want and "trading" either way you really only need to get to about $30k to then be confident that exploring/looting will keep you well in the black. i stopped selling all my stuff 50 hours ago, and now only do when i happen to have it on me by a merchant.

again though, check the actual sell value price. i'd like to know what it is that's so expensive if you do have it

I can't claim that any of my items have a sell price that high; though I have plenty of items with values that high and higher. I will check when i go home though just for shits and giggles but I have loads of stuff that the sell value is much higher than any amount of coin a vendor has. So far no vendors sell anything I need or want. So far anyway.

I thought maybe there was someplace I could sell high value items. I will say this much...I know I have multiple items with a sell value higher than any amount of money the vendors have.

usually you will get 30% of the value so 3000 value = 300 gold lol. okay its not that bad but you get the idea, speechcraft and other factors play into it,

I use Dibella's shrine + amulet of Dibella + mask of clavicus vile to get + 35 to speechcraft on top of 20% better prices, helps a bunch when trying to make large sums of gold.

LAA won't matter much for anyone running with a low amount of mods, but if you have picked up probably even just the ground textures pack, it's probably a good idea to start looking at LAA. Though you might be able to get away without it with just that. When I mostly crashed from texture packs without LAA was entering towns, simply because there is already so much being rendered there, then new texture for some stuff and it would cause me to crash.

Thanks for that, zscreen does not work. It's like Skyrim intercepts all input for whatever reason.

And wow crazyeyesreaper, those screenies make me want to play morrowind...
