The default keybindings on the keyboard are a bit strange. You may need to move them around a little bit to get a better feeling with it. There is at least two where I swap positions and invert it but, I don't recall exactly which movement it was that I did that with. It has been too long since I've played. Maybe I'll give it some time in the morning.
Probably moving yaw to mouse and roll to keyboard. It's inverted at stock and it's opposite of most other flight/space games.

So, I did a dumb.

I ran my oxygen as low as 5 seconds testing how cold I could make my ship (I liked the ice crystal effect lol) and how long I could do silent running, a sort of "stealth test" if you will. Later, without thinking I reboot/repaired to fix some damage on a component from exiting too fast.

I suffocated. This was my first death.

Anyone else got epic bad death stories?

I jumped into a sun once. It was about three seconds of brightness, then poof!

When I was playing beta, I had a thing for changing controls and accidentally hitting the one I didn't need...specifically boost...whilst flying inside a space station to find my landing pad (anyone remember the days when the pad numbers would disappear?)...anyways...ya many have done it...I had a knack for it lol. If it were a mission/payable objective, I would've been a millionaire in the beta phase! :D

I had 5 seconds of air left last time I lost my canopy and landed...was a total shit show, and a great rush! Needless to say after that, the required installation of class A life support to add that extra minute or two of supply became mandatory. :toast:

It was a bug for that system right after the game released. They got it patched in a couple of days.

I did have a lot of fun playing Elite with other people. Solo it gets kinda rough unless you just want to grind for something.

I'll try out that binding tonight. Anything weird I should know before I start using them?

Also, is it wrong I defeated the enemy sidewinder in training by flying backwards?

For the keyboard: NUM 0 = landing gear, NUM Enter = Chaff, NUM + = Shield Booster. Arrow keys are for the WEP, ENG, SYS pips and "J" will get you in and out of supercruise.

I bound targeting to the D-pad.

@erocker - Your config file work great! I can actually fly now.. lol I can't explain how kick ass it looks in VR. It feels really good to, I look to either side and I see panels pop up.

what a POS game, it took me 2 hours to figure how to land. The training missions are completely useless.

Wake not scanned means you are targeting a wake and trying to jump through it without scanning. Untarget the wake and jump then.

Also, I'm not saying it's an easy game, but I managed to land in my first 5 minutes. Maybe try some custom control configs?

Yes what he said, you accidentally clicked some one\ ai's wake. I would of said sooner i guess i am forgetting more of this game than i thought lool.

Yeah landings are really easy once you get used to it, i do agree with the learning missions sucking it don't help players to get involved what so ever.

I finally got the landing part down, the thing is to point the head of the ship north. That was the main thing I would not figure out. They really need to fix that.

I dont know about this game, so far, I think I wasted my money on it. It looks good but it needs lots of small fixes.

And how can I learn about the difference between class A or class E for something. I see things for sale in the market, both named the same thing but one thing is more expensive than the other since that has a different class. I dont get it.

There's a learning curve for sure. When I started, I had to alt+tab to the Wiki.. a lot. "A" is generally the best equipment though some lower class stuff, in some cases will be lighter or you just might not need the higher class stuff.

Yes mate, especially with a HOTAS setup! I personally don't think I could play a space sim without a HOTAS setup now I've tried it.

Personally, I don't find much to do in the game. Yes you can trade, but that gets very frustrating as it takes for ever to earn a substantial sum of credits, and it's a pain if you die carrying all your cargo.
The other possible activity is exploration. Yes you can see some absolutely stunning views, but, there still isn't enough...interaction. You just take data back to stations/ports and sell it...no innovative way of collecting data, it's just automatic.
The last resort is of course combat, which is a lot more interactive but to me, is the only activity that has enough interaction. But I don't want to just do combating!

So there isn't enough interaction in this game for me at the moment. I'll still play it again when I get a Vive, but only for the immersion, stunning visuals and epic audio design.
