Yeah, it reminds me a lot of 8600s, I hope it cools better than that.

I question taking the most expensive GPU there is, and making it more expensive.

Must cost what, a $100 premium for all the extra VRM goodness, and extreme OC friendliness?

I mean, I look at this, see all that excessiveness, and I think "DO WANT!! DO WANT!!"...

But i think my wallet just hopped right outta my pocket, and is hiding from me.

The extra power pins lead me to think 1GHz+ OC out of the box. Though I doubt a single fan air cooling would help to do more than 900MHz.

This is evga we're talking about here. It will be more than $600 for sure. I'd much much rather have the blue fan 3GB lighting for less... not that I'd buy either. I mean what kind of loon would pay more than the launch price for a 580 after it's been out so long? It's replacement shouldn't be far off at all.

Honestly, it looks really dumb. Gotta love the huge water wheel in that thing. If it's going to cost over 500$ I think it should have its own self contained water cooling system built in.

Vanilla 580 and an EK block would be a much better way to go

Have you done such that you have personal experience with this, or is this just what you surmise based on the opinion you've created with your current kit?

Coming from the same guy who says GTX590s do not overclock I would think otherwise.

    ---

On-topic. the 'classified' looks like a bunch of laptop MXM modules fused together. be interesting to see how well this performs.

Personal experience putting together a friend's rig.

    Vanilla GTX 580 - 469.00 - Newegg
    Aquacomputer Waterblock - 117.99

    Total : 586

Overclocks to 1Ghz core quite easily and doesn't top out over 60C. Was planning on going 580 but 480's in SLI are much more potent

You forget cost of rad, pump, res, fittings, tubing, coolant, etc...

Was just curious how you came to that conclusion, thanks for the answer.

Add 150 for a Triple XSPC Razza kit if you already don't have an existing loop ;)
