fan less help!

Hi guys, I need your help...

I was asked to build a silent pc for a kid with sensitivity to noise, and since I have not been into things lately, I thought of all of you!

Please let me know which is the best fan-less cooler for an e7200 c2d (up to 60$) and fan-less graphics card, preferably nvidia, (up to 200$).....

Completely fanless is a bit scary I would say, the case would just heat up ridiculously. Maybe for a CPU cooler you could start here:

I would also pick up a case fan with a 4-pin molex and swap the pins to make it use 5V, which slows it to very little noise. I've done that with some cheap 80mm's and they are nice and quiet. All you need is a very small screwdriver to push the fins in on the side of the pins and you slide them our the back. Then bend the fins back out, and put the pin on the other side of the connector.

hmm you gonna need alot of air flow if u gonna do fanless cooler for CPU and graphic card. need to get well ventilated case with support for 120mm fans or even 200mm fan.

ANTEC NINE HUNDRED is good for that.

Noctua NH-U12P big heatsink super low noise 120mm fan on it.

As for graphic card there are some low end cards like 8200 or 8400gs that has fanless heatsink on it if you want gaming gard get 8800 gt then have accelero S1 on it.

you are starting to scare me!

I was thinking something like a thermalright120 and an Asus 9600gt fanless with one 140mm intake (1200rpm) and one 120mm exhaust (1500rpm)...

I forgot to mention that the case is already cut and drilled (dremmel) for the fans mentioned so the case airflow is not the issue....

@boogah thanks for the tip on that Noctua NH-U12P... I 'll see if I can find a review on it!

just dont think you are gonna find what you are looking for. Zalman has fanless PSUs and a case that is basically a big heatsink with no need for fans. Google it, but Im betting its expensive.

here in Greece , that case costs about 600$.....No way!
I 'd rather supply him with a years supply of earplugs!

The best thing to do is look at frostytech on the fans that you want.. There is a few there that are not giving in the states, so I know you'll probably be able to...
Also, if you type in "Silent Fans" in google, you will be able to find a few reviews from places that taken some of the best fans out there and did the who's who of fans...

i just put 2 yate loons each at 40db on my case.. sounds like a small car running in my room... time to turn up the speakers

If the heatsinks on the components are going to be fanless, you will need some good airflow for the case. I would suggest some high speed, yet quiet fans like these here: http://www.jab-tech.com/YATE-LOON-120mm-Case-Fan-D12SH-12-High-Speed-pr-3771.html

Hmmm... Well, I use all Antec Tri-Cool's on high in my case, two of those yate loons on my radiator, and I can't hear them. It's probablly the fact that I'm used to the noisy tri-cools, but for the amount of air they push the yate loons are a good balance.

If you sound proof the case, or get a case like the cosmos, those yate-loons sound like a fish tank running...
It's hard to find a true fan that is good at both Dbs and CFM... But, with the right case, it helps...

Also, I cannot recommend the Noctua fans enough. Even though I have to import them from the States, their new P-12 on my ultra 120 is amazingly quiet, with my idle temps are around 22 -23 deg. c. Even with my overclock. :rockout:

If the case has good ventilation, the Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 on a gfx card works well.

Also, the Corsair psu's are seriously quiet.

Yeah... I had my Case's side panel off lastnight... and when I woke this morning.. I couldn't believe how it was... But, I never really notice... TV's in the same room... Dang living rooms! Why do people have to live in there.????

it is also hard and expensive to find a fish tank that is really quiet! my fishtank is silent but it set me back about 1400$..... :eek:

Maybe if I just replace the side panel with ACRyan mesh and add a 23mm@800rpm fan intake, that will do the trick!

My Xigmatek S1283 can passively cool my E7200 at 3.2ghz. But I have a good fan in the front and back so I guess its not really totally quiet.

I don't want to start modding no gfx.... I'm going to use a fanless card for sure. :rolleyes:
