INFLATION. Far Cry (1) was only GBP 19.99 on launch, or EUR 29.99 and $29.99?

Far Cry 2 will debut exclusively on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and also on the PC

LOL. That's a new definition of exclusive. LOL

P.S. If it has gone gold... WHERE are the demo downloads? :)

News flash. Politicians say inflation is less than 5% per year. Try squaring that circle.

Well, there goes that. Chalk up another title I won't be buying. :shadedshu

Assuming (and its a big ask..) the DRM doesn't screw up the OS it doesn't sound TOO bad. Like BIOSHOCK you can uninstall unlimited times as long as you use the revoke tool, and upgrades shouldn't prove a problem either as long as you follow the procedure. I don't see how publishers can protect their revenue without some form of DRM. Sad but true, and largely ineffective of course, LOL.

I remember back in the days of the ZX Spectrum (yeah I'm getting old) I had a game called Tomahawk. That came with a plastic prism which was held against the screen. A code would be displayed in a scrambled pattern of blocks, and could only be read through the prism. Worked quite well, but I suppose these days the hackers would simply remove that portion of the program....What can be done at the end of the day, short of paid subscription...?

I was fine with needing a key, or having to put the disk in the drive, but these activation schemes go too far. What happens if you have a hardware failure? Boom, there goes an activation. What happens if you accidentally forget to revoke before you do an upgrade or clean install? Boom, another activation. What happens if you are offline?

Considering DRM has proven 100% ineffective at stopping piracy, what can be done at the end of the day is for publishers to stop using it. Take Oblivion for example. Yes, it was pirated a lot, but it also sold like wildfire. It didn't have any DRM schemes, yet was wildly successful. Money is wasted by them licensing these schemes, which could otherwise be spent on development, or at least used to pass the savings on to us.

It may be 100% ineffective so far, but they ain't going to give up on it. They just get more and more devious! And as for hardware failure, they have said that extra activations will be available so you'll never be unable to play it.

formatting loses your activation forever.

Can you imagine the extra effort, to UNINSTALL all programs BEFORE a format? its a pain in the F'ing ass. How many noobs do you know, who run their recovery CD at the first sign of trouble, and lose their activations?

This is a very, very stupid way of doing things. Online accounts (a la steam) are the best method, as annoying as it may be.

It doesn't matter if they keep trying, they will keep losing. It's a complete and total waste of money.

And as far as getting extra activations, why should I, as a paying customer, have to deal with that, when the pirates get off scott free?

I agree with you i was really dissapointed with ubisoft(not suprised) when i read that they are going to use DRM but if your activations finish you can just call them up and tell them you forgot to uninstall etc which is a hassle or you could find other solutions if you know what i mean they bring this onto themselves for using this crap

it kinda boils down neatly, as wile E said.

People who buy the game, get LESS than the people who pirate it.

We are PAYING to get annoying features that could entirely prevent us playing the game!

Something acceptable like "You cannot install the same CD key more than 50 times" would be ok, as more than 50 = pirated key for sure.

I am getting it for the PC, and off of steam. Trying to find the games right after they come out is tedious. And buy no buying the cd...less environmental harm :D (no im not an environmental freak but I like to do what I can :))
