Hey wizzard, any way I can identify the PLL being used by the i945GM/PM/GT chipset?

I have opened up the laptop to look for one on the board, but so far no luck.

Unfortunately, each chipset has several PLL brands and/or models compatible with it, meaning answering that question is not that easy as it sounds. To make matters worse, the PLL can be basically EVERYWHERE on the motherboard, which means you'll have to be very pacient and scan the whole board...

There are, fortunately, a few pointers as to search for a PLL. You might want to try this first on a desktop motherboard, it may be easier.

First of all, I have never seen any PLL chip that wasn't rectangular (around 1,5cm in lenght, if memory serves me right), with little "legs" comming out of it on (and only) both lenght sides. Then, every one of them is marked with brand name or logo, and the chip model. Also, there are few PLL manufacturers, which means less searching. Take a look in this page, which has a list of all the PLL manufacturers, along with their logos. ICS, Winbond and Cypress are usually the most likely to be used, at least on desktop boards.

The page I indicated has some pointers as to where to look, and photos of actual PLLs, so you can have an idea of what to look for.

Cheers.

How about more stable support for vista 32 bit. Systool isn't as nice as it was on my XP Pro Abit AS8-v/P4 630 system.

How about an option in CPU OC section to change voltages for FSB/DDR/Nb/Sb etc...maybe have ATI Tool integrated with Systool in the vid overclocking area, or a light version of ATI Tool that allows some of the functionality of the full ATI Tool...that'd be cool.

Hi!

Is there any way to add support for the ICS932S403, like the update of the latest version?
I have seen that the latest version supports ICS932401.

Many thanks if you can integrate it.

I just remembered another way (actually, two of them) to check which PLL your system has. It's a software approach, so you don't even have to open the laptop.

Try running CPU-Z or SpeedFan on your laptop. CPU-Z tells you the PLL on one of the tabs. SpeedFan shows it on the scan results box (top left on the main window), on the Advanced Configuration Tab or even with an SMBus scan.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Please, add support for RTM866-890 on 4CoreDual-VSTA from Asrock. Current version of Systool makes my comp completely freeze :-0 .

Fan Control - Geforce 6800GS Vista Ultimate x64 please!

I use ati tool purely for the fan speed control. The newer video cards' fans are simply too loud for everyday use (I use a small form factor so in non-games the computer is super-quiet).

FYI I had the same kernel drivers not loading problems with many of the users here.
The solution I used was to use all of the command prompt driver-signature disables and also highlight ignore in the driver-signing detection in admin-tools.

FYI I have tried Speedfan, Rivatuner, Expertool, as well as nTune (latest builds)

- Speedfan does not control agp or pci-e card fans; it only sees motherboard fans
- Rivatuner 2.0 (as specified from RT), does not run in vista x64 (incompatible driver)
- Expertool does not run; looks like it has the same problems as rivatuner
- nTune takes has a well-documented code problem for vista x64 and can control the fan at the expense of 90% CPU usage

If all else fails, I can start looking at driver code; I'll bet there's a way to read/write the fan PWM register for all OS'.

Have you tried ATI Tool or ATI Tray Tools? I know at least one of them (not sure which one, though) has fan speed control for some cards. Those programs are mostly for ATI cards, but you might get lucky... I also had the feeling Speedfan can change fan speeds of some cards. You might want to post that request on Almico's bugtrack site.

Apart from that, there is one major problem with all drivers for Vista x64. As far as I know (I might be wrong, please correct me if that's the case), driver signing is absolutely necessary (as opposed to per user choice in other versions, namely XP and Vista x32) to ANY driver being installed on Vista x64, and the OS will simply refuse to install it if no valid signed driver is available. I know Speedfan has a signed driver, but that's not a step most software producers (especially freeware/GNU ones) make, digital certificates are not cheap. So Vista x64 may just be a problem for some (or even most) third-party software of this kind.

If you do take matters on your own hands :p, please share your findings. I'd love to be able to control the fan on my Gigabyte X1950Pro, that VF700-AlCu is a vacuum cleaner...

Cheers and good luck.

You can disable driver integrity checks in a command window in Vista. Look in the Vista Tweaks thread in General Software.

Oh, I had no idea you could also do that on Vista x64. I always thought (as per Microsoft marketing) Vista x64 would absolutely require signed drivers. That is a good thing, digitally signing a driver doesn't come cheap...

Cheers.

I have a Asrock K8NF4G-SATA2 mainboard, which has the GF6100 chipset with the C51 clock generator.

Systool doesn't have this one, couldn't it be added in the next update?

Would be great if systool could apply settings at startup, such as memory timings and overclock configurations.

Thanks!

:respect:
Need support for the Dell Latitude D620 notebook.

AFAIK -
The clock generator chip is an ICS9508??

I have another vote for the CFX3200 D/R. I know it has the ICS951462 clock gen and the sensor is the IT8712F. SMbus dump locks the PC. As soon as I can get it hooked up to the net I'll get a report submitted.

4CoreDual-VSTA RTM866-890

Please, add support for RTM866-890 on 4CoreDual-VSTA from Asrock. Current version of Systool makes my comp completely freeze :-0 .

Count me in on this one! BTW, have tried requesting the datasheet with no response from Realtek. The RTM866-890 is not listed in their products section either :(

If anyone knows a better way to go about requesting or finding the data, pls advise.

I have recently stumbled upon your program, systools. It has many features I really enjoy using however. The winbond I currently have on my Abit Il9 Pro system shows up in the motherboard list and not in the list for cpu overclocking. Kind of confused on this. The winbond i currently have is a W83627THF. I believe this is listed in the motherboards list incorrectly and should be in the Cpu Overclocking list sectionl. If this winbond was added I would be able to adjust the front side bus etc. through this already great program. As of right now this board currently has no options in the bios for overclocking so this would be a great attribution to people who use this board. Also, one of your competing programs, clockgen doesn't support this particular winbond chip either. If you could email me via duken30@gmail.com or reply to this telling me whether or not this would be possible that would be great. Thanks in advance and keep this software rolling can't wait to see it advance. ~Daniel E. Peebles~
