Yep, the VID reported in CoreTemp hasn't meant shit in CPUs since the Core 2 days.

Now, to roughly figure out what kind of chip you have, see what the BIOS uses for voltage for stock clocks with nothing changed all auto.

had to settle on 4.63ghz with 1.35v
anything higher than that and intel burn test max would get a core to 85c on the 3rd test which would throttle it down (the only time i dont mind throttling)
it would pass the test but for now i clocked it back down a bit.
i will lap the cpu and see if i cant get those extra 5c off the temp which should help. I may get a couple of better 120mm fans for the heat sink too.
4.7-4.8 are possible on this air setup for games and stuff like that but burn test will make them to hot, so thats not good enough.

one last thing though. this offset stuff does not work on this board.
even with a 0.000 offset it will bump me up to 1.40v under full load it needs a - offset which it doesnt have. really annoying.
