I might want to go SLI with my 275 in the future so I think i might have to switch out my Mobo but if I do i would not know which mobo to go with

- Don't know much about AMD processors
- I'm thinking a 780i board would be nice? might be a bit expensive for the budget

- Id recommend Corsair dominator 2x2 4gb

- Assuming you are using the stock hs for the beginning and later upgrading it.

Would like to see others comment on if a 850w psu would be sufficient for sli in the future.

I don't know how good Antec PSU's are, you might want to look at a Corsair or an OCZ one

Do i loose performance if I want to go into SLI since that board has one slot running in X8 instead of X16

Antec PSU's are solid. I have never had problems with any of them I have had throughout the years. They were one of the first PSU manufacturers to get into the 80 plus(efficiency) certification process.

They are quality PSU's at a good price so don't worry about buying Antec. But if you want heavy duty SLi in the future, grab a 750watt or greater.

SLI boards are a bit rare at the moment, in AMD and intel. You can only get midrange chipsets with SLI support, or really expensive stuff like nehalem.

running 2 cards in 8x slots wont be too much of a performance hit.
Stealthxstreme is a good PSU - its the same as the one i'm running. I've got two cards in crossfire as well as an overclocked quad core - it will handle yoru system with room to spare.

I cant find anything wrong with the build design you came up with, other than the PSU change you already suggested.

Your PSU i don't think is enough for future cards, by what i mean is that there are not enough leads.

It says in on the PSU description it has

1 x Main connector (20+4Pin)
1 x 12V(4+4Pin)
6 x Peripheral
6 x SATA
2 x Floppy
2 x PCI-E


the GTX 275 requires 2x6pin connections. If your going to sli that means 4x6 pins

the PSU has 1-6pin and 1-6+2pin aka 6 or 8 pin.

Also this psu is non modular so cable management will be harder. Not sure if you can hide behind the mobo tray.

i'm using the same PSU as him, and used molex to PCI-E adaptor cables. you just hide the excess cables in an unused DVD bay.

No, the performance gain you get from having two cards will far outweigh whatever bottleneck(and I'm not even sure there would be one on a gtx275) you would have

and that PSU would work just fine, just make sure you grab some of the aformentioned molex to pci-e connectors if you buy a second card.

if you want to keep SLI as a option, I highly suggest building a Intel system(core2 or I7) and use a nvidia 750 or 780 chipset board. Personally, I run a EVGA 750 FTW motherboard, and have been nothing but pleased with it's performance. It's basically the samething as the 780 board but with 2-3 less SATA and USB connections.
