Last weekend I built my first pc from scratch!
I want to say a big thanks to all who post here at TPU, with advice and questions. especially guys like solaris, fits, lemonade, mussles, erocker and the list could go on and on.
Not so long ago I was saving up to buy a new system, but having spent enough time here, reading the stickies and threads, gleaning bits of knowledge on all the different components, I began to develop a desire to build it myself.
In fact, more than a desire, it's almost become a sickness!
In the end I chose an e8500, Gigbyte p45 ds4, 4870, Samsung 750gb, 2gb corsair 8500, Corsair 750W TX, Xigmatek Red Scorpion, TT Armour + and Pioneer DVD. (yes it's for gaming)
After putting it together I was so scared to turn it on, almost sick with worry that something had gone wrong and the magic smoke inside the tech would come pouring out.
Bloody Hell, the thing worked! It posted straight to bios first boot up, whereupon the hours spent pouring over threads at TPU came into play and I immediately corrected the bios settings that Gigabyte set for the CPU (8x multi?) and the non usb keyboard/mouse.
I never would have been able to takethe plunge however, without the knowledge that whatever happened; if it didn't post, or CTD, or it beeped incessantly, that I had TPU to come back to for help.
Thanks everyone, you have my deepest appreciation and respect.
Still excited
