You'll find it to be easier than AMD most likely. Just start raising that FSB slowly and check for stability.

I still have my e6300, great chip, did 480FSB, 3360MHz @ 1.26v, and 500FSB, 3500MHz @ 1.34v. Well still does! That board should easily take that chip up that far, results may vary, some need 1.5v for 3.5Ghz, either rate they are great chips!

On the multiplier change, if C1E and Speedstep are on it's idling, run Orthos and look at CPU-z again, it will be at 7X unless you selected 6X as the Multi in bios. DFI's have A LOT of bios options, my P35 DK had more than I ever needed or used.

What strap are you using?
BTW you need to do homework on that board, the options are crazy. Just remember to raise the NB voltage and VTT voltage and set the gtl settings according to it.
Check out the edge of stability link for a reference.

With that chip , it will hit 3.0 easily with 1.375 volts.

FSB is X4 on an intel board, so 266=1066MHz on the FSB. I think DFI calls it System Speed, I don't recall anymore.

I did a quick google search, take the time and read through these, it will help you with some settings,

http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=3129

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=154898

I left Strap on AUTO on my DFI and never had an issue. Really on my P35 Dark and e6300, all I really remember changing was the CPU Voltage, NB to 1.37v, memory to whatever is required at 1:1 (x2) FSB speed..i.e. 400FSB, DDR 800. Different boards need different settings, that is a great board and will also OC quads and 45nm dual/quads quite well too. I do miss my DFI LP Dark P35-T2RS...was a damn good board.

Setting that says Strap/divider
Stick with 266/667 and 333/800, those will usually throw the memory in the 1066 range.

Also set the NB voltage to 1.45 when going around 430 FSB with the GTL at 105
Set the Cpu VTT to 1.43 with GTL's 102,103.

Also leave all your mem settings on auto for the time being, til you get a little stable. If you gonna try to push your mem above 1066, Disable T2 dispatch.

BTW I left a 2.9GHZ profile, in the Cmos reloaded. Check it out if you want its PrimeStable, just change the RAID drive options.

thats the more easy way to overclock a dfi, using the cmos reloaded, just, download the 3dsage profile, set to non raid (unless u wanna run raid) and you will be at 2.9 in a second :)

Do some Benchies to man, I wanna see how those Dominators do against my HyperX.
When you get stable make sure to tweak these settings, they cut off alot of time on Super Pi.
Also the 266/667 strap will give you better results but is harder to keep stable after 450FSB.
