Hi Folks,

as there are many wrong-flashed cards out there and I fixed mine with the solution by wizard I would say thank you wizard :respect: it helped me to restore my card when all other options were gone.

Before was:
- wrong flashed card (Tahiti LE bios on a Pitcairn card)
- adapter not found by Atiflash, only 1 of the two cards found
- no method of forcing in any order helped out

What I have done:
- install second VGA adapter (PCIe, PCI or IGP)
- remove XFX Radeon HD7870 DD Black Edition card
- locate flash-chip on the back of the XFX Radeon HD7870 DD Black Edition (see picture)
- Google for the 3 lines on the chip and make sure its a flash reference
- solder a thin long enough wire from pin 1 (small dot in the edge) to pin 8 opposite side => this will disable chipselect and the adapter does not ask for the flashchip-content
- reinstall the card and boot to dos (i guess you have the usb method with your flashfiles)
- check if atiflash can detect the card => atiflash -i
- if atiflash has detected the card keept the adapter num
- cut the wire while on dos promt
- force flash the original bios => atiflash -f -p [adapter] [biosfile]
- reboot
- enjoy your card :)

Once again thanks to Wizard you saved me 180€ which is current market price for the card
If you have any question or need the original bios of the XFX Radeon HD7870 Black Edition just ask me.

Greetings Stanley

Hey,

you just saved my day. Did a BIOS flash yesterday with the latest Tahiti LE and guess what happened after rebooting...
Screen stayed black no matter what i tried.
So I installed a second gfx card but my 7870 wasn't recognized at all so i asked the internet and found this thread.

Thank you very very much :)

Thought about soldering a switch to the wire ends, which would basically emulate the switch many cards have to select between th BIOSes, right?
Anyway, great solution.
