Flash Drive really SLOW on MAC OSX

I plugged in my windows FAT formatted hard drive into MAC OSX and tried copying some stuff, but the drive is horrendously slow. Takes about 3 mins to copy 50MB.

    Whats Wrong ?

I was just wondering because some older iMacs are USB 1.1. But if the iMac just looks like an lcd monitor with a bigger than normal bezel, then that shouldn't be the case.

USB 1.1 is basically 1MBy per second speed, while 2.0 can cram from fast USB keychain drives like 25MBy per second.

    Kinda huge difference.

So 50MB should be done in like 50 sec. Maybe Mac did not exactly like FAT filesystem and try to translate date somehow, witch add to the delay?
