I have a 9" Archos with W7 and it's the most used computer out of my office: garden, bed, bath, kitchen :)

At the momento, my laptop wins in 'uselessness'' :)

A friend of mine has the Samsung tablet and while he loves it he never takes it outside because it's too big to carry around. So every time he goes out he switches his sim card to his regular phone.

to be fair the industry has just started really pushing for tablets, and still to this day there's not a tablet worth a damn. I think once actual tablets that can actually do what the user requires, then they will really take off.

Except, the tablet was a big failure. However, the Apple iPad seems to be a success...

Even though a lot of people were hating on it calling it useless and saying why not get a lap top instead? etc etc..

Tablets aren't a big failure or at least not yet, the market is still taking off and we are still currently seeing a variety companies taking their stab at the market.

Tablets are shit. If you actually need to do serious business, you use a normal computer, laptop or desktop. Problem is that tablets have no really good input method. Tablets will be good when they get an input method that is effective. An example would be:

-Voice recognition (as seen on Android phones)
-Mind Reading
-New-gen keyboard

All of those are pretty far off (5 years?). Until then, tablets are never going to be amazing popular.

Nail varnish and handbags are popular.

The problem is that WE are not the right people to comment on their potential for success because it isnt a market for us

Get someone's sister to come on to the board and comment. If a tablet had a forward facing camera and could act as a mirror-mirror-on-the-wall then it is guaranteed a 100% success in a certain market, otherwise known as 50% of the population.

The ipad is a tablet, it just hasn't got a full desktop operating system in it.

So Bill Gates was just right

I'm gona be buying myself an Android based tablet soon.
10.1 screen 1080i tv out, 800mhz cpu, 256mb of ram. usb host, wifi, 3g can't really go wrong  cheap too. real cheap.

For me basically it is an ebook/MP4 player on steroids.

But also great to use together with overclocking or benchmarking: you can read about stuff meanwhile.

So yeah basically it is useless, lol
