ok fair enough
probably lost its ability to initiate the monitor
Have you not tried flashing it through Windows if doing it via a command prompt isn't helping? Wonder if you could edit the BIOS that you flashed to the card so that you could trick it into thinking its a compatible, albeit, redundant BIOS?
Hmmm.... I haven't had breakfast this morning so I'll chew this one over.
I'd say just contact XFX about it. Explain what happened, no need for lies and deceit (saying it just plain didn't work suddenly, claiming someone else was responsible, etc. as suggested in this thread). Just tell them what happened and sure maybe there will be a service fee to pop in a new BIOS chip, but I don't see XFX completely screwing you over on it.
Hopefully/maybe W1zzard can help.
Sorry to hear about it, was an honest and unfortunate mistake. Good luck.
find the bios chip, disconnect its chip select pin, power up the system, boot into dos, connect the chip select pin while sitting at the dos prompt, flash the card
have no idea where the bios chip is matey
xfx are still inactive to my emails.
look at all the ics on the card, google them all
lol i guess i will be googling all day mate. i have the pdf file on what u did to your x1900CF. very well done on fixing it mate and sorry it happened.
im trying to get xfx to send me over a datasheet on the card.
all day.. and make 700 bucks .. sounds like a good deal to me ..
or did "can wizzard help?" mean "can i send him my card, he will fix it for free, sprinkle glitter all over it and make it overclock to 2 ghz" ?
xfx will not send you their datasheets - they dont even have one, they buy the cards from ati
Dont be an ass, give the guy a break. Its a simple mistake to make.
Hey guys guess what? I accidentally pushed my car over the ledge today! Woops?! Halpz put it back togethar? K thx.
Nice to see that compassion continues to run strong in these forums!
You bastard you took away my chance to throw in some of my sarcasm!
I'm subscribing as well, cos i am also curious
Well both of you should have read my previous posts
lol accidentally flashing the wrong bios is not that unheard of a mistake. However now that he's done it he needs to do his homework, listen to Wizz, and do the work to get it back on track. That way he'll never do it again. If someone just fixes it for him, then the liklihood of a repeat is high.
i regret to inform you guys that my 5970 is ................. WORKING!!!!!!!!!!!
all thanks to THE wizzard!
EDIT: DATE IS WRONG.....LMAO
Great news..... well done!
Congratulations! You might want to write a step by step guide for other less careful people.
Hah, awesome! And thanks for the most entertaining thread I've read here in some time. Though that thanks goes to everyone I guess
Man good to hear u got that 500$+ piece of silicon working, or else i would've been pissed
This happens sometimes, so this problem was nothing new to me, specially when you dont have another card to work with....ever heard of "blind flashing" ??? I had to resort to that twice.....and it SUCKED, but now im "veteran" per say
glad you got it sorted.. that would have been tragic to see such a marvelous card goto waste.
so you used it doing wizzards method?
You're quite the lucky man
