Foam?

I'm switching from primo chill blue danger den fluid, to distilled water. I thought I cleaned out both rads, what a mess! Is it the old junk causing the foam?
I did not clean parts, just rinsed. What's up? I've got a plague of foam!

And for biocide since I'm cheap, some say frugal, is there any common household item I can use to avoid algae?

Could very well be. I have used distilled in loops for years without foam.

Also, anything silver to set inside the res will work for a biocide. Google for a kill coil if you don't have anything you want to drop into the res.

Empty the loop, flush it out, fill with distilled water.

Car anti-freeze. IIRC, back when I still did watercooling I used 10% Anti-freeze and 90% distilled water.

Right. Also if you use the gold colored anti-freeze it is pretty much non-toxic as well.

Last time I did my loop in my water cooled rig I used 20% auto antifreeze and distilled water.

absolutely NOT!!! Use only pure silver not a mix of silver.

I pulled out an old 1888 silver dollar, but Im afraid it might lay over the inlet as my res sits on the top of the pump... ill probably buy a kill coil or something... how many days do I have until algee and other stuff is an issue, IE is it imperative I do this immediate or can I wait till next month... ??

Ive been running straight distilled since last year. Done a few refills due to taking apart and doing some upgrades and rebuilds, and haven't had any algae grow or anything during the longest time I had it running which was like 8 months.

Algae won't really grow unless you have sun light coming into your system, which will speed up the growing rate especially if you have clear tubing

Any light that contains UV will cause algae to grow. If your room is light with those swirly bulbs, or florescent lighting it is just as good(or sometimes better) than sunlight as far as algae is concerned.

Algae is weird too, I've seen systems with just distilled run for a year with no algae at all, and I've seen systems running for just a month turning green with algae. Remember, algae doesn't just grow out of no where, the algae cells have to get in the loop somehow. So if you're lucky and don't get any algae cells in the loop when you're filling it, then you won't have any problems.

And there is a slight residue from the chill pc stuff that's sure to be anti algee, just at such small percentage. I keep thinking there is another silver source. I have small silver tape that came in last order, I'm afraid that it would come lose and be a ball of goo in the pump... And that's just not a good think!
I also missed a leak in my testing, tiny one on a rad, needed to tighten a barb clamp.
