I actually just downloaded those and lost fan control in riva and evga. Gonna revert back.

Did anybody else lose fan control in evga precision or rivatuner w/ the 180 drivers? Is this something simple I need to add to the config or something?

Lame, I guess maybe we'll have to wait for the .44s. Or a riva update. I'm not benching w/ 30% fan speed (or even using the internet for that matter). :shadedshu

Yep, lost it on my 9800GTX's, I also lost the temperature readings for the seperate cores.

you need to do it (fan speed not "it", what am i saying we dont do girls round here :D) in low lvl sys settings in riva now not system settings.

im guessing this quick fix will stop the farcry 2 drivers breaking farcry 2 in dx9? lol good 1 nv

i also hope this stops all the flashing black textures the other 180 driver was giving me as that bugged the hell outa me.

Yes, they certainly do. I was able to get 31K in Vantage with these drivers. 3DM06 was about the same (25K). The only negative I have found with Tri SLI is that when I browse a web site with images, the images corrupt a little. Games have been smooth, however, where it counts.

I did lose fan control in Riva and Precision, but, according Unwinder that was an easy fix and will be part of the upcoming riva 2.2 release. I just used the NVIDIA control panel to up the fan speeds for now.

I'm curious to see 180 WHQL drivers sooner than later...October is getting closer and closer to being over. The 180.42's gave me a blank image for Far Cry 2, and no fan speed control...even after running driver cleaning and re-installing 178.24's my fan speed on the card just doesn't seem right...but it stays very cool so I won't complain. I think I'll be waiting out these betas unless a really good one comes out, seems these 180 betas have more bugs than the 177 betas in August had.

My games are running great tbh on the 178.24 drivers tho, I'm not a bencher so scores matter very little to me, but I still don't mind extra performance even if a game is already running great! :D

I'm not sure if this was posted already, but you can fix the blank screen in Farcry 2 by opening Documents/My Games/Farcry2/GamerProfile with notepad and changing the "maximum" or "fullscreen" value to a 1.

Maybe I'll give these a shot again...but I'd like to have fan speed control back again..I guess I could just mod the bios like I did on my 192sp GTX260, easy enough to do...just haven't felt the need to with precision working so well.

I also noticed furmark doesn't work anymore, weird. I also notice that my gpu temps are down as much as 5c or more in some games. Fan control still not working for my 9800gtx and doesn't even show in low level setting, but does work for my 280gtx so not a biggie.

Well I decided to go for these drivers, gave me some good results in FC2, approx +10 FPS for overall average FPS, and the avg min FPS matches my overall average FPS when using 178.24 drivers. I of course lost fan speed control, but a simple Bios flash with a modified fan speed profile took care of that.

I have yet to do any other benches aside from FC2's built in one, and playing the game. It played great on the 178's, but I figure...might as well get more performance! I haven't noticed much for bugs, but again I haven't done much more on these new drivers than I stated above.

    1. Forceware 180.43 BETAs, still no fan controll (8800GTX or 9600GT)

    2. Forceware 180.43 BETAs fixed farcry crashing on startup, does anyone else find all of the captions for .42 amusing? all the far cry 2 stuff about nvidia? supposed to be THE driver to use with FC2 but it crashed every time for me.

    3. now that FC2 doesnt crash anymore FPS is nicely up from 178 drives, quite happy.

    4. Physx with 8800GTX and 9600GT 1GB working, but with bulk issues.

With these new driver i get about 5 minutes of gameplay and then the driver stops responding shutting off the game. Ive played it about 15 times now but each time only for about 5 minutes before errors. Every other game plays fine tho so this is a little wierd for me as this error has haunted my computer for about a year now and as of about 2 months ago i had it fixed by doing some registry cleaning and a long process for installing new drivers.

    same here, 9600gt

just went back to the 178's

EDIT: Just saw the post about the updated evga tuner, awesome. And by the looks of it, the newest 180's are working better than the first 180. Might give it another shot.

I think you're still using "6.02_nvidia_system_tools" if you do so, install
"6.03_nvidia_system_tools" and you'll be ok... i had the same problem as you and the others but after 180.43 BETAs & "6.03_nvidia_system_tools" now its very good... both farcry2 and fan control is working.
