forum message editor buttons don't work

What's up with the message editor functions not working ( it's very hit or miss, lately more miss.) Click the Link button above the message and nothing happens. I'm stuck "programming" my messages. And I'm an excellent Typo-ist.

I have the problem with not being able to copy and paste links with using the button to define custom text for the link instead of just the URL being displayed.

Should work properly with all recent versions of Firefox (18 and later). Heck, it works fine since FF 3. Chrome and varieties? Don't know. With Opera it used to work perfectly too, but Opera has changed a lot internally somewhere in the recent past so I don't know. Internet Explorer? Should work too with all version after version 8 I think.
