Just a suggestion, 50 posts minimum would ensure the seller is at least partially involved in the community, and would protect us better probably

I know XS is 100 posts and other forums have a similar rule, I find 50 posts a bit better though
    D007 and [Ion] say thanks.

Evga has a 50 post minimum. This has been discussed here before I recall.

I personally like the idea of a semi-restricted access to the BST section to help cut down on the 'newbie' threads.

I don't really know. I mean, there are quite a few people that come here only to B/S/T and offer good deals and are great dealers. I understand why this would be beneficial but I think a lot of people would end up basically post-spamming to get their 50 or 100 so that they caould be done with it.
    digibucc and TIGR say thanks.

One of the reasons I didn't stay at extreme OCers was because of the rule like that. I can understand wanting to protect the users, but that would run off potential members. I wouldn't be here now if we had a rule like that.

This is strictly to post correct? not to view also?

yes, to post was my idea, view should be free to all members

50 posts is a low margin, IMO... and for post spamming, mods would just infract them/ban them

if you resort to post spamming to post your FS thread, I wouldn't want to deal with you

not really for or against the idea really, just wanted to be sure where it was going;)

Wait for paul, erocker, and mussels to get a hold of this and see what they come up with.

one other question.. will it hurt the threads that are all ready made by posters that don't have that many posts?

I'm for the idea for posts. It would give some sort of "background" for the member in question.

I suggest that the ones already made not to be touched

easier for W1zz too, just add a check to see if he has 50 posts before posting in BST thing

When you are busy, nothing is easy. It takes more work being done faster to allow for time to fiddle with the changes;)

This sounds like a good idea to me, I don't like XS's 100 post requirement even to view the FS section or Overclock.net's 35rep requirement to post, but I think a healthy 35-50 post requirement to post a new FS/FT/WTB thread is a very good idea, and would cut down on people who just join to post in the FS section

I'm not totally opposed to this idea. I think it's worth discussing. However, no promises that it will be implemented.

I think if it was to go into effect there would be no exceptions just to make it easier. Dont quote me, but you can understand how it could get messy;)

Though the idea of people with no heat only is good, that would mean it won't be automatic and another thing to watch out for mods... the people with under 50 posts rarely read the rules

this is more of a question directed towards wizz then a suggestion, but is it possible to force a page to appear the first time someone goes in the BST section and have them read through the rules and agree at the bottom? Kinda like sites making you read EULA's?
    HammerON says thanks.

Instead of a post count to post in the BST section, how about making it work for creating a new topic only, so members that have less than the desired amount of posts can make PM responses in established threads when they are looking to buy something.

Sorry, but I agree, lol.. I just got a pm like 10 seconds ago from some total new guy trying to bypass not only the wait period before being allowed to post, but tried to bypass the entire guidelines all together. Reported to DAN.
I lost 600 dollars doing business with someone like that before, if you can't respect the guidelines and respect peoples safety, then you can go chew on some cyanide.

New members are allowed to PM anyone, including people selling items. Read the safe buying/selling guide for tips on not how to get ripped off.

i disagree because people who have been on for a while but dont post alot would according to my post count (berfore this post) would have to wait 179 days (178.57), which is quite a while.

I should of clarified. He tried to sell me core I7's. No pics, no forum topic, no adhering to the wait period before being allowed to sell.
I've read the safe buying guidelines several times..lol

Which is why people who "invest time in this community" are not prone to screwing it over.

Ah, I see. If this happens again, please include the B/S/T moderators in your PM so we can know about it and look out for it.

    Cheers! :toast:

I sent Dan the forwarded message as it was PM'd to me.
Should I of sent it elsewhere? I don't usually have to do this kind of thing as most people have enough respect for the community to not try that crap.
So please do feel free to let me know the proper procedure if I messed up. ^^
I can send the PM to whoever needs it no problem, still in my inbox.
I'd Like to help keep this place as safe as possible. :toast:
