    Hey guys n gals

Situation: Building a new gaming rig over the coming months, and converting current system to a media centre to hook up to my new HD TV

Question/Problem: Firstly I've never built an Intel system, and I'm wondering if the spec I've chosen below is the best I can get (I have a budget of £650) Secondly, bar the CPU and power supply, the system I've got now is pretty decent, and I intend to make it into a media centre but the problem is I've got a kick ass mobo but all the nicer media centre cases I've seen are MATX, and my m2n32-SLI deluxe is ATX and I cant justify spending more money n a new one... soooooooo does anyone have any recommendations!? It needs to be a desktop, not a tower as its going on a unit shelf under the TV, and needs to take a 7900GTO. You can check out my current specs in my profile thing (CPU is overclocked to 2.8 now ive got a Zalman 9500 AM2! Awesome cooler!)

    Proposed build specs:

    CASE: Thermaltake JR Armor

    MOBO:Asus P5N32-SLI

    CPU: Intel Q6600 SLACR
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131823

    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200RPM 32MB Cache
    http://www.dabs.com/productview.asp...=11154,4294960493,361720000,47240000,45560000

Video Card: 8800GT 512mb (the one with the zalman cooler, cant find it now lol)

    RAM: OCZ Technology 2X1GB 240DIMM PC2-6400 CAS4
    http://www.dabs.com/productview.asp...e=1&NavigationKey=11150,4294959062,4294959239

And a couple of SATA DVD drives, and probably the Zalman 9700 (Nvidia one with the green LED like the one ive got)

Thanks for your help in advance :p

Thermaltake and Antec both make some decent HTPC cases. IIRC the Tt full-size ATX is the Mozart, but they also have the Bach series, too. The Mozart IP I reviewed here took a full-sized PSU, three 5.25" devices, two HDDs and full-sized (not "low profile") expansion cards.

Thermaltake also makes the DH101/102 and the Tenor. In my opinion all the Tt cases except the Tenor look like home audio equipment, which I think would blend in well with an HTPC setup. Are you looking for something with more pizzazz, or just something different? Give me an idea of what you're looking for in an HTPC case and I'll see if I can find somethng for you.

    Sli

Sorry, forgot to mention that I would prefer it to be SLI x 16 so I can add another 8800GT in the future. I've also just read that yes, there does seem to be limitations on the quads with the 680i chipset :shadedshu silly Nvidia ! Having said that, I do like a challenge, and i'm used to nvidia chipsets :ohwell: as long as i can get to 3GHz or thereabouts I'll be happy ! :D The barracuda wouldnt be for the media centre, for my new gaming rig

    Sorry!

I'm too fussy i guess :ohwell: I found this case http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=CAC-RC281&af=50 thats the kind of look I would like, something a bit more uniform but the problem with that one is the drive bay door would get snapped off by my kids within about 4 minutes ! D'OH ! :slap:

My favourite case would be the Antec Fusion V2 in black, MUST BE BLACK ! lol

OK, so something simple and uncluttered? There are some Silverstone cases that might work for you. I assume you are in UK from the link you gave, but here are some links in the US:

The second looks to not have any kind of door on the front. The do have some higher end cases as well, so it depends on your budget.
