Intel recently released a memo to manufacturers indicating that the new quad-core processors are going to be announced this month. The first quad-core processors codenamed Kenstfield, will be the first of the Intel Core 2 Quadro family to hit the mainstream market as well as Intel Core 2 Extreme family for high-end users. Core 2 Quadro Q6600 model will be the first quad-core processor to be released. It’s a 2.4GHz CPU with 2x 4MB L2 Cache and 1066MHz FSB model for advanced users. Yet its price is not determined. In addition, Intel will release another quad-core Core 2 Extreme model QX6700 clocked at 2.4GHz with 2x 4MB L2 Cache and unlocked multiplier as well. Intel is also going to release mobile Merom Low Voltage models including Core 2 Duo L7200 and L7400 in January 2007. Core 2 Duo L7200 and L7400 are 1.33 GHz and 1.5 GHz models, which have 4MB L2 cache and 667MHz FSB. They are packaged in Socket M interface and support Napa Refresh platform. Its TDP are only 17W, almost a half of the normal models. The price will be $284 and $316 respectively.
