I just purchased the motherboard in the title but there are two concerns I have. I have not yet opened it so I can return it if necessary.

1) The instructions (which I downloaded) imply that a Northbridge fan is necessary. In pictures, I see the Northbridge fan header but there is no fan included nor do I see anywhere to mount one. Is this fan really needed?

2) I have the 3.1 Revision which specifically advertises compatibility with AM3+ 32nm CPUs. This should work with the Bulldozer series, right? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

EDIT:
Here's the official page for it.

1. Not at all. No need for a NB fan, but it doesn't hurt using one. Just make sure you have good case airflow.

2. Yes, you are correct. :)
