F***ING RIGHT!!!!!! I am in love with galciv2, only bummer was that everything runs its course and after 200 some hours of gameplay not including all re-instlalations for a quick game, i got bored with it.

I've been searching and searching for 4x space games that come close to its gameplay and galactic domination and have yet to be satisfied. hope its mainly a graphics overhaul with the same mechanics. Diplomacy that actually matter would be nice too, there was too much negative diplomacy having huge affect and not enough positive diplomacy coming into play; could ally with someone since beginning of game and they'd still stab you in the back.

Keep the same style to the T, but improve diplomacy impact, graphics.

Master of Orion is well spoken of, at least number 2 in the series. Tried it in the early 2000's I think, don't remember much.

i've tried star drive, endless space, sins of a solar empire. I'm not a great micro player, more a macro, and Gal Civ 2 just hit the spot of that perfect in-between'ness for me. Think there's one or two others that i can't remember the name of.

You don't really specify if you like turn-based, real-time, first-person, etc.

Have you tried any of the X series games (like X³: Reunion). They include combat, trading, empire building, etc. Really quite good and you can find them for a steal these days.

X Rebirth is on the way which looks like it will be outstanding.

Yea sorry kreij XD. I love space games period. I like the dogfighting type such as X3 reunion, which i've played a bunch but seemed to lose interest after a bit; i think mostly due to the graohics being so poor with lighting and colors that i couldn't tell where i was going(astroid mission for example). I'm better at turn based because as i said i'm a better macro than micro, so of course a game speed that allows me to think works better lol.

I may check out X3 terran or w/e, never played it but i'll see if its graphics and artwork(color) are good enough that i can enjoy it.

    FREELANCER

That game is in serious need of a successor. The feeling of exploration in that game is unsurpassed to date.

    FREELANCER!

That looks pretty nice. I bet Stardock gets it right: all people really want in sequels is the same game with updated graphics, not some redesigned dumbed down flashy crap.

I agree. those pics above look great. The only thing GalCiv 2 needed was a face lift, and improved diplomacy. I got faith in stardock based on those pictures.

I highly recommend Endless Space. Once I figured out what the hell I was doing I really enjoyed it--picked it up for a Steam Sale for like $15. Well worth it.

I've played the crap out of sins.. it really is an average game at best..

Bought endless space on steam, seems fun so far.. Unfortunately I made it crash (how do devs still release games that can't safely minimize..) and lost my first game.

I could never get into Sins, and I wanted to since it was a Stardock title. I think I'll pick up Endless Space since it's $11.90 now at Amazon and hope for the best.

As far as turn based games, UFO: Afterlight is a pretty decent knock off of the original X-COM. It's a bit dated, but if you enjoy recruiting solders, gaining exp and researching new armor and weapons it has a lot to offer. Unlike X-COM, the territories you control on the global map contribute to the resources you have. It's biggest detraction is that after 10 or so missions you've seen about all the mission maps there are.

Gave europa 4 a try finally (played alot of 3) and got hooked. Think I found my strategy fill for now.

Endless space seemed very meh... Not bad, need to put some more time in it.
