This forum is dedicated to gamers and and PC enthusiasts who fine-tune their rigs to play the latest games really well.

So how about a new area in the user's About section* where they can list all the games they own? Perhaps we can have a forum leaderboard for the most owned games too? This would get its data from the About section, would be really cool and help to act as an instant at-a-glance quality rating for games, because the most popular are likely to be the best ones.

Then we'll have a forum that rocks, rock a little bit more.

Any other suggestions and ideas welcome.

*Perhaps adding it to the system specs as a second-level menu would be a good idea, too.

Put simply, I whole heartedly disagree.

It would be useful if you said why...

I think this was suggested before (although I could not find a thread specifically about it) and there was not a whole lot of interest.

I suggested an idea awhile back for a games database that you could search to find who had what, their rating of the game, standings etc., but there were only like 2 replies to the thread.

I'm not interested personally. You can see who is enthousiastic about a certain game by visiting that games thread. There's a lot of game threads going on.

I would suggest asking a girl in a bar, if she agrees it indeed would be very cool. Otherwise I don't think it has much added value.

that could work as some kind of massive review system... have a searchable list and categories (games, software, hardware, etc) and all results under teh same name show up when you select it, and users could enter their own mini reviews.

That said, it'd take a lot of work to code (well, 15 minutes for w1zz, but he's a robot)

ya something like you could submit your own games, then people can click a button after its posted already that says own it.

and you can post your thoughs of the game on the page for the game.
it would save from having a page for everyone about every game and just have 1 page per game or something with the reviews of everything on it, and say like a rating system 4 stars outa 5 or something. Then on the persons profile they could have a button that clicks and it would open up a window with a list of the games that he has,

Because it would involve work that w1z does not get paid for.

I'm pretty sure his response would be:

Get enough people who like it, code it yourselves, and i'll implement it.

Aren't there already sites like that? I really think this should be about the tech, not games. :(

well a review section for users to make reviews (and vote on them and have them ordered based on popularity) would cover tech as well as games.

wanna knwo about a 5770? read w1zz's review, then go check out how users think of their ones with all the various brands, find out if they're noisy or quiet, if they have a high failure rate, etc.

+1 to this. I really like the idea, and like lots of us on TPU, I ALWAYS have an opinion to share. :D

so you don't think it should happen because someone else would have to do the work? I don't really understand your objection if you already know W1z wouldn't be bothered for it... so what's the issue?

Yes. TPU's main focus is tech and should stay that way.
That's why I suggested some kind of database, as it would be more in the background and would not add any more sections to the forum.

Didn't we use to have a "GamePowerUp" of something along those lines that didn't last long?

So it seems like this idea won't fly? Ok then... qubit feverishly sets about thinking of another one!

i'd like to add my support for this. To be honest where i live there aren't to many gamers like me.. much less people into hardware and enthusiast computing. That said a database of who's got what and who's playing what might make it easier for people like me to connect and see what others are up to.. It's a great idea and i support it!!!

My issue is that it would be pointless. A needless waste.

Sure it's a nice idea, but it'll be horrible in implementing it.

Games that everyone owns are not always good. Far cry 2 for example.

Yes. GPU did pretty well, be we could never come up with a vision on how to make the site different from the 2 million gaming sites out there already.

We have another project which focuses completely on software and gaming, but we have not worked on it lately. :ohwell: TPU keeps everyone pretty busy.

I own hundreds of games...I'm not the sort to sell my stuff like that off...

That said, it woul,d take me MONTHS to list what I have, nevermind make comments on each.

I've actualyl put together an old P4/X800 rig jsut for some of these older games...and have found that while they entertained many years ago, they don't hold up so well now. I had great aspitrations to let my kids slowly go throug hmy library of games, but many titles cannot keep them amused for more than the title screen...
