Gateway Unveils New 14-inch Mainstream Entertainment Laptops

    Gateway today extends the popular design and features of its MC Series and MD Series notebook lines to its new compact and lightweight TC Series notebook line, which sports a 14-inch high definition display and an attractive price tag. The Gateway TC Series notebook line is intended to be a mainstream entertainment notebook with a 14-inch 16:9 Ultrabright HD widescreen display with (1366x768 resolution) and plenty of multimedia features. Included are an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam, 802.11b/g Draft-N wireless, Gigabit Ethernet 5-in-1 media card reader (SD, MMC, MS, MS Pro and xD) as well as three USB 2.0 ports and illuminated multimedia touch controls. The first models available are the TC7306u in black and the TC7307u in burgundy. Both notebooks have the same value-focused configuration; they are equipped with an Intel Pentium Dual-Core Mobile T4200 processor (2.00GHz, 1MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB), 4GB of Dual Channel DDR2 667MHz memory and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M. Transferring and storing large files is easy with the 8x Multi-Format Dual Layer DVDRW and a single high-capacity 320GB hard drive. They both come with a legal copy of Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1 64-bit. Both machines have a 6-cell Lithium Ion battery and an MSRP of $649.99.

    instead of this intel crap, why didn't they use some weak igp or an onboard Ati/Nvidia Gpu?
    any 720p vid would run nice on that without heavy load

    why not ship with 2GB Ram, good GPU (HD3200 and up? oder 9200M) and that's it?
    And why Vista 64bit? Take Basic 32bit and add 9cell battery ;-P

    beside the display i don't like it too much

    4GB of RAM pwns 2GB. Why the intel GPU...I don't know. Why 64bit? It's faster, and takes advantage of the 4GB of RAM.

    The Intel GPU can't compare with any kind of discrete notebook graphics but it consumes less power. (Not everyone is using their laptops for gaming)

    wow so gateway is not dead yet? I haven't seen much of them lately.

    Those look pretty cool, good price too.
