Theres no such thing as a non-typical forum.
Every forum has features that make it what it is.
If we removed features to make it a non-typical forum then TPU would probably cease to be a 'true' forum.
Why not have both
Dont limit and degrade your existance by having to decide between things when you have the ability to have both
i know some forums without postcount, stars, or anything else, and are bigger than tpu

IGN is the biggest of them all, and yes they have post count. The thing they don't have is custom avatars.
You must submit them and they have to upload them into there server before you can pick them.
