Hi guys, I've had my HD4870x2 a few days now and after initial teething problems things seem to have stabilized a bit now. I have run 3D Mark 2006 and got a score of just over 20k (the first time ever for me:laugh: ) I'm downloading vantage as I type this so will post the result also, just to check everything is in the right ballpark. I understand I'm not really maxing out the card with my current processor but I do have a reasonable overclock on it so I'm happy that I'm pushing it to the max I can.(Also just updated my old 1280x1024 CRT to a new 1920x1080 LG monitor)

I have altered the fan to 60% on the recommendations of some other TPUers and it now runs idle - 46c and goes no higher than 90c when gaming

I'm now looking for some pointers or help with the different catalyst settings. Coming from an Nvidia card its all a bit alien to me - especially Catalyst AI?

I'm on the 10.3 drivers and currently playing two games (my gf is also playing WOW), Crysis and Risen. Crysis is being run DX10 1920x1080 and I have tried very high but this appears to have a lot of pauses when turning around as if it struggles to load up the textures. On high its not so bad but still there a bit. Risen runs quite nicely and is smooth, although it runs slower than most games it still appears smooth. That said, if there are better drivers more suitable for my 4870x2 and more suitable for the games I'm currently playing then let me know.

Any other things that can improve performance or functionality of the card in other games are also welcomed as I like to know what I'm doing with my GPU is the best it can be :)

Thanks alot, LoM

Just wanted to update things. As I previously mentioned, I was struggling running Crysis V High and had low frames on Risen even though it was smooth, well a fresh install again and using the 9.12 drivers things are running very sweet :rockout: I also think my ram timings were causing the pauses, so put them back at stock with an XMP profile and the latency went right down on them, much much better. No pauses and lots of frames,

Now running Crysis V High with 2xAA 16AF DX10 and it is smooth as a babies ass

Renamed Risen.exe to Crysis.exe and got double the frames :toast: lowest is 55fps when I hold a torch with lots of shadowing going on and the highest can be anywhere around the 200-250 mark

I'm starting to fall in love with the card....this is how I expected PC gaming to be like when I first got my rig.
