You just have to convince me life is worth living for someone who's credit is destroyed from student loans, has 0 friends, is a virgin, and generally has no hope for a decent job besides $9 an hour max.

Don't get your BA degree kids, its bad for you. :banghead:

You just described half the internet population. Except that half doesn't have a BA. Why not take up a hobby like watching Lost or something?

I guess I just need to learn to enjoy the small things in life, it's not like working towards a retirement is going to matter in this life time at my age anyway, pretty sure the world will be unsustainable at it's current population growth rate by the time I would be able to retire, resulting in great famine, or such increased global warming as to cause massive amounts of the population to be self-exterminated until life and resources balance back out.

This is EXACTLY the type of stuff that constantly lingers in my mind.

I'm always just picturing everything becoming like the movie 'Soylent Green'

Sell your PC and take up gardening? Find some eco movement?

I hope we find something to cling onto because the current lifestyle that most people want to aspire to isn't a sustainable or even realistic one anymore. :(

So how old are you anyway and how did you afford all those computer upgrade things, and how did you afford those $3000 worth of games?

And a $9/hour job isn't that bad, to begin with. Get that job, do some work, get busy, keep your mind busy. Sitting home and moping about it will not help you.

Put things in perspective: You could be living in one of the 3rd world countries ravaged by war, disease and famine.

You just hit the post-college "ohshit" moment. Roll up your sleeves, work a shitty $9 dollar an hour job, and get a second shitty job on the side and work your ass off until you climb out of debt.

I did it, had no social life (even internet life) for 2+ years aftere college to pay down my debts. It sucked hard, but I was so tired from lack of sleep that it became easy. It takes a little bit of willpower, but it's worth it in the end.

Just work hard and spend as little $$$ as possible, there is a way out. It will help you develop a good work ethic, should help you with your social skills being around other people, and confidence. And the confidence will get you laid. :D

PS not in ot for the free games, if you're serious give them to someone who doesn't have much. There are a few users on this site that aren't as well off as the rest of us.

    Hang in there bro
I worked my ass of for 40 yrs, 32 at my last job I had just only broke $14..... yea 32 fkn yrs.
BUT I worked hard at it, even 1 week 98hrs. Last year Some crackhead slamed into me on a parking lot and now i'm disabled, no job no money, med bills, insurance was a joke .........then got most every power tool I had stolen.
    But...........
I'm still here and even got to enjoy trying to share help with members on things i've been thru so you just never know when your "little" contribution will actually happen but "they" are greatful when it doe's.
It's all about fullfilling the journey even when it is bumpy
And you should be so lucky to have nice PC and a great collection of games, that must be mind warping.
Two of the best things in life, watch the sunset, watch the sunrise....................

    Sorry to hear that, man.

I recommend to everyone I see that if you're smart enough to do it, going into a BS program is the real "bees knees". You don't see many people with Computer Science degrees having a hard time finding a job and certainly at least not in the greater Boston area that constantly has several job openings in the field.

Hate to say it but the future is skilled labor and with robotics computers is the best thing you can get into if you truly want to be marketable. I've been done with school for two years and I've been working at my current job for 4, working on 5 years. They paid me like any other help desk tech until I got my degree where I very quickly got a new title, better pay, benefits, and the same work load just because I finished my degree in Comp Sci.

Also don't get rid of your Steam account, just know when to walk away from it. My steam account is also pretty old, I have one of the lower steam ids. :p

I'm in a similar situation because of my master's degree, so I know how it feels wondering when my education is going to pay out.
It's time to start making use of your degree.
While you are searching for an office job, open account on oDesk:
    • make kickass CV
    • mention every project you worked on in school or otherwise as a job experience
    • make yourself look better than you think you are, because most probably you are
    • start applying on projects that fit in your area of expertise
    • make it a habit to do couple of skype interviews every week for potential new projects
    • goal is to be able to choose projects you work on, and to have backup if one of them flops
To search for an office job, open account on LinkedIn:
    • reconnect with your college buddies
    • make kickass CV
    • mention every project you worked on in school or otherwise as a job experience
    • make yourself look better than you think you are, because most probably you are
    • explore your contact's contacts's companies they work in, and the companies of their contacts
    • contact your contacts to help you get recommendation for job application in company you want
    To get laid:
    • easiest if carefree so much that you are effortlessly self confident (the unattainable goal)
    • not being desperate about it also helps

    Good luck out there :rockout:

Fuck that shit man, all this cosying up to people. Bollocks to it. If you feel like shit it's your own damn fault.

Stop being so lazy, get off your ass and do something about it.

Wow, how do you get by? I made that in high school at Walgreens (little less, but NH has no state income tax either).

    Isn't that against Steam TOS?

Where I come from $9 an hour is a luxury. I have 0 friends and the people who wants to be my friend, I usually turn them away and alienate them. I am a 25 year old virgin (for religious purpose), I hardly speak to girls or look at them. But I don't have any student loans.

Yes, your life is worth living... NEVER say "I quit", then you are a Failure for sure. Just hang on, hopefully everything will turn out fine in due time :).

It's not here in the US and I think that's his point.

You have to go into school knowing what industries have jobs. You can't go to school for whatever sounds cool and expect a job just to mysteriously appear (like my wife did,) and if you go into the right fields it can pay very well, as in many factors more than $8 USD an hour. I don't get paid well, but I get paid a lot more than that because of what I do and what I went to school for.

At the end of the day porn is still free. This alone is enough to get me out of bed in the morning. As far as getting a girl friend goes you can allways rent one for a night.

it's not easy but you can get past all of that. you're going to have to accept that at least for now you will not get a job you like or want, but that's true for most people for most of their lives. at least you can find a job to keep you warm and fed, and then work on the other problems from there. you can build up your credit, find friends, get laid. one by one ;)

you just have to not get down on yourself when life throws you some crap. yeah planning better helps but at the same time going to school and getting a CAREER in a field you are not interested in just for money is... boring. money isn't that great really, the more you have the more you spend. once you are past the basic level of comfort returns are diminished.

so make less money and enjoy life more. that's my advice.
